Thanks. I just figured it out.

Well, you could stop sneaking and wait for me to get back... There's probably a better chance of you calling in sick tomorrow...
To: Corin Stormhands
Now all we need is to be able to bump threads to the top (or bottom) of the list!

I think my boss would choke me if I called in sick tomorrow. I am already filling in for someone else who can't go, and it is important. Drat. It is gonna be hot there too. It is in Eastern WA, which is actually quite uninhabitable, IMHO. I went to school there, I know it well.

I liked the Hyperion books pretty well... but can't remember the author. Would those be Hyperion and The Fall of Hyperion by Dan Simmons? I haven't read any of his books, but I'll look for them.

I've done that drive from Seattle to Eastern, WA (Richland).
Made the mistake of trying to come back by Mt. Ranier and got caught in a snowstorm. Silly me.
We'll save you some cake.

Hey! No fair. I think I had Post 8666....

The Cold Equations, by Tom Godwin, is one of the best stories about this. A real classicYes, but very depressing. A lot of Ray Bradbury short stories are like that too... verging almost into horror. I remember one of his (but not the title unfortunately) about a group of astronauts stranded in space after their rocket has been destroyed, communicating on their suit radios, wondering if they'll die from lack of air first, or burn up on re-entry... brrrr.
(No, they weren't rescued.)

We'll save you some cake.I just checked, we are 330 posts from 10,000, and 330 posts since Friday evening. Of course we were all slothfull on the weekend, but I think we can arrange things so that we don't get to the '0000' until Thursday lunchtime. Just no extended sneaking these next three '00' posts, and we should all be able to be ready on Thursday early, what about it!!

To: Overtaxed
Sure [sigh] I will leave the eggses...

....the last thing I need on a long drive in a hot car is 6 dozen deviled eggses! Enjoy!
To: Corin Stormhands
I guess you are just 'predestined' to have all of the x666, soon to be xx666, posts. I hope that isn't an indication to your true nature.

The big one is within our grasp and you ask us to

We will never hit it on schedule... This hole is powered by the Improbability Drive.

I am having a bad day. You too?
Hey, all. Sorry I haven't been around helping to run up the post total. I spent all morning and some of the afternoon in the dealership service center waiting for them to finish working on my car... and then when I drove it home it drove worse than it did when I put it in. (sigh)
Now I have to go and catch up on all the errands I missed doing because I was at the dealership 5 hours.
Darn it.

Maybe g'nad will ship us some fresh venison and home brew.I don't do brew, but I do do Dew, Mountain Dew that is. ;^)

We will never hit it on schedule... This hole is powered by the Improbability Drive.Well, My old dog could herd cats (she could herd anything). If I still had her, I could herd these hobbits away from the '0000' until Thursday!

....the last thing I need on a long drive in a hot car is 6 dozen deviled eggses! Mmmmmm...deviled eggs... I like those as much as pickled eggs...the after-effects are the same...worse if you throw in a six-pack of Old Milwaukee...Mrs. g'nad can't seem to find the humor in that...

I spent all morning and some of the afternoon in the dealership service center waiting for them to finish working on my car... and then when I drove it home it drove worse than it did when I put it in. I bought some topo software for my gps...went to hook up the link cable, and realized I had only 1 com port... can you imagine the looks I got when I asked 4 different stores for an 8-bit ISA com port card for my antique home PC?... finally found one...the clerk was laughin'...punk kid...
