Sorry, it's just that I haven't posted in the crusades since Friday afternoon (and I'm not really even reading the posts I'm pinged to now). So I have to take a few swipes at somebody. All in good fun, of course.
You're right about a different perspective... It'd been 15 years since I'd read LOTR when I read them this past winter. I was amazed at how much more depth I picked up on this last time around...
you've motivated me to read The Silmarillion this summer... my wife will hate you, ya know that...
Well after an entire weekend of jousting with Photoshop and HTML code, my LotR site is finally making progress. I got the screencaps pages finished and linked in to the rest of the site. Lots more to do yet - still have finish the navigation menus, and get the trailer page up, for example. Its nice to finally be making progress though. Let me know if you have any comments or suggestions to make it better!
sneakin'...
A thirty-five post sneak? Even Kevin I'm not that bad...
You are right, it is time for everybody to get to work, we need to have over 500 more posts by tomorrow afternoon, and no sneaking allowed. I want to see lots of graphics, LOTS OF GRAPHICS!!!
Hey, I asked for reading assignments last week. That wasn't on the list. And I'm pretty sure I didn't finish it 20 years ago (now where did I put my copy?)
Whoa there big fella...check out my #9462...
Aww, gee whiz. Oh, well, now that there are lots of Hobbitses and Dwarveses around, I won't be doing any sneaking anyway... I just can't compete...
I'm not whining, really I'm not...
I re-read it right after seeing the movie last December. I went even further and then read Unfinished Tales and The Book of Lost Tales. This time I found them utterly fascinating, while the last time I had read them (15 years ago or more) Unfinished Tales had been a struggle to finish, and I hadn't finished Lost Tales part 1 (zipped through parts 1 and 2 this time, completely absorbed). I'm actually considering continuing on with the "History of Middle-Earth" series, just not sure whether to go on to part 3 (The Lays of Beleriand) or part 4 (The Shaping of Middle-Earth).
Did you guys know that Aragorn has Maiar blood?
Yeah, and Arwen is his cousin, about 50 or so generations removed. Weird things like that happen when immortals are involved...
I can't remember enough of it to discuss!
Weird things happen with dwarves too. My grandparents were second cousins.
Some people say stuff like that caused our "height issue."
I would have expected weirder things than that, seeing as how y'all started out with seven fathers and no mothers...
