Practically everything Smeagol says has me in stitches... I think I would like your daughter. We both seem to like the "twisted little hobbit."

Don't tell anyone, but we are getting closer.

I noticed earlier that you posted the parody from Beauty and the Beast. Did you happen to see the musical either on Broadway or the truck and bus tour? That number is wonderful. No, I didn't. The only Disney live thing that my family has seen was Aladdin on Ice, my wife and her sister took all the kids. They thought it was wonderful.

I want to see the Lion King when it comes to town. If Beauty and the Beast comes, spend the money for the tickets. You will not be disappointed.

Don't tell anyone, but we are getting closer. They seem to instinctually know when we get to around post #XX90.
So if a whole crowd of people show up, you break left and I'll break right, and we'll meet at the Precious.

Smeagol likes chicken and mashed potatoes and green beans and biscuits. And chocolate cake and ice cream...

Practically everything Smeagol says has me in stitches... I think I would like your daughter. We both seem to like the "twisted little hobbit."She is 11 years old and I wonder if she understands that Smeagol/Gollum more than just a funny, eccentric character. He is also quite evil, even though it seems like there may be a glimmer of hope for him, for a bit.

Gee, can't a dwarf try to earn an honest living?
Just a bunch of sneaks...
To: ksen
You are right... he is evil. And when I first read the Hobbit, he creeped me out. (I was 14)
The evilness is still there... but two things Tolkien wrote makes me think there is hope for him... The whole paragraph before Sam calls him a sneak... when he is just a tired hobbit far removed from friends, home, etc. And Gandalf sends him to the Mirkwood elves because Gandalf thinks that he can be changed back. (Paraphrased)
Now, I understand that Smeagol killed Deagol, so Smeagol is evil from the get go... but, those two sentiments, and the fact that he is a riot makes me like him inspite of his evilness.

Come to think of it, maybe Smeagol is the true main character of LOTR. The story isn't really about a Ring, a Dark Lord, and a Fellowship. It is all about the Redemption of Smeagol! (Sort of like Star Wars is really all about the redemption of Anakin Skywalker)

I know... this race is getting in the way of a thing I call work...

I'm for going for the corner, wings pints and all.

I got The Letters to see if Tolkien wrote anymore about Smeagol. I would like to know what Tolkien thought about him. Personally, I think Tolkien liked him.
