I kind of agree with g'nad, if the guy knows he's hurting one of his students, he needs to rethink his attitude.
But he sounds interesting. Would a meeting help, or would it make things worse? Or should you just "press on regardless" and make the best of it? Maybe just make the best of it, probably.
What do you think about New Centurion's Mother Theresa quote?

Mmmmm.....biscuits with bacon!

How did the gasoline list get added to the Hobbit Hole topic list?
To: Sam Cree
I think that I will put it in every one of my class notebooks and make it a rule to live by...
New Centurion is spot on!

How did the gasoline list get added to the Hobbit Hole topic list? Some goober doesn't know how to post. I pinged the AM to the thread. They should move it when they see it...

Went to the fishing club Halloween party last night. Nothing like the one that Scott went to, but nice.
We ate Cuban food, catered, roast pork, roast chicken, fried plantains, black beans and rice.
Probably not the usual Halloween fare for the rest of the nation.
Thinking about putting a bumper sticker on my truck that says "Banana Republican." And maybe another "You ain't much if you ain't Dutch."

I have avoided all the replays of that memorial, because it doesn't really hold my interest very long, but even Imus was ranting about it and I have seen clips.
Now... That said, I had a dixieland jazz band at my mother's service, and the ladies from her jazz society celebrated with their fancy umbrellas they parade with at jazz festivals, and we applauded the music with cheers and standing ovations. In addition to the jazz band we had a barbershop quartet, a piano bar singer my mom liked and a great Southern Baptist minister who sang "Climb every Mountain" from The Sound of Music a capella. He shook the walls of that little Lutheran church in a way that has never been done before or since. It was very festive and wonderful. People smiled and cheered. But my mother was about all that. She said... I do not want durges(sp?) at my funeral! I want a brass band. All of the musicians there were bands that my mom had followed or supported over the years. Her service was the last great party she would have loved to have been at and everyone had a terrific time smiling through tears.
So I am not against festive funerals. So my mom was about music, and Wellstone was about politics. It would fit that his service should feature his politics and his followers would celebrate them. All that said... I just heard a clip where the crowd in this case was shouting "Fritz!" "Fritz!" for Mondale... ick.

Roast pork - YUM!
If my babysitter comes through, I should be at a Halloween party tomorrow night where the host invariably roasts a whole pig in traditional Cuban style, under banana leaves in a pit. :)

My wife has always said that's what she wants. And I agree, as a Christian (as much as I fear it as a mortal), death is to be welcomed...perhaps the "next great adventure."
I have no problem with them celebrating the life of Paul Wellstone. But Drudge was right "all that was missing was the balloon drop..."

It took me awhile to figure out what you two were talking about! [sip]

Got a guy pinging me to the same thread all morning and I asked him to take me off his ping list. Now he's giving me grief.
sigh.
To: 2Jedismom
Good grief. Why is the world hassling the hobbits? What thread? - What guy?
To: 2Jedismom; HairOfTheDog
If the guy is harrassing you, turn him in. It's your duty in the war against terrorism...;-)
That "gasoline" thread guy signed up Monday and put that post in ALL of the topics.

I love pigs cooked like that. Make sure the babysitter comes through.
For our club Christmas party, we usually go to a farm a little south of here owned by one of our Cuban members, he cooks 2 piglets that way for us. He starts on them around the middle of the morning and they're not ready until dinner time. Extremely tender, really taste wonderful.
When my wife and me first discovered that Mojo sauce, years ago, we did something weird (Anglo too, I guess), and poured it over corned beef sandwiches, tastes great.
