"I pinged Sam because she's a UVA graduate... ;-)"

I'm sure Thomas Jefferson is rolling over in his grave, probably.

I found this cool pumpkin posted by ThinkinGal on another thread.

Some folks are quite creative. I'm gonna see if my wife wants us to do one like this for Halloween this year.

When I still lived at home with my parents (which is like 30 years ago, or more) we had a cat that woke you up in the am by biting your toes, if he could find them.

A toe bite meant he wanted bacon (as opposed to, say, a fresh gold finch).

I was just laid off.

Oh my Rosie, I am so sorry to hear that... you will be in my prayers... God will provide, trust Him...

As always, you have my axe...you have only to call, dear lady...

She usually wakes me up by letting me feel the business end of her claws on my face (although she's never scratched me.) She likes to play "pounce on the lumps under the blankets" but not usually first thing in the morning.

Sam, I love that idea for a pumpkin... just can't get the missus to go along with it... I know Jake would go nuts over it...

Good morning! It's my first day of unemployment, in honor of which I'm having ice cream for breakfast. ;-)

Thanks to everyone for your prayers and well wishes! I'm going through alternate moments of excitement and depression...I did like that job (until the last six months or so - I was almost glad to be let go at this point), but this may be the beginning of something wonderful, who knows?

I'm actually not sure what sort of job I'll be looking for. I have to think that through. My experience is in PC and network support, but...not sure that's what I want to continue in, and now I have the option of changing fields, so we'll see.

The sad thing is...about my first thought on getting the news was that I'd have more time to practice fiddle for awhile.

The other sad thing (sad and a bit ironic) is that I found out later yesterday that my boss (the one I said meant well but tried too hard and drove us nuts) lost his job, too...our department of four is down to two. It may be rougher for him since he has a wife and a (beautiful) little daughter. His wife works, but only part time, I think. So if you could keep him in your prayers as well?

Corin, your son's costume sounds very cool! I never got to dress up as a hobbit for Halloween...I'm jealous!

may have to stip by Wal-Mart this week and price a stove, propane bottles...

I got a buddy, Hank, that can give you great advice on propane products...

sung to the tune of Eric Clapton's "Cocaine":

If you wanna cook out you've got to worry ‘bout; propane.
Put the canister down, down on the ground; propane.
Need a light, need light, to ignite; propane.

I got some bad news, got the burned chicken blues; propane.
Before your food is done, you won’t wanna run out; propane.
Need a light, need light, to ignite; propane.

If your tank is done and you wanna fill on; propane.
Don't forget this fact, you can take it back; propane.
It won’t light, It won’t light, It won’t light; propane.

Morning everyone.

Still praying for your here Rosie. I hope you are able to check in every now and then and give us updates on your search.

Oh, and don't ever feel like asking prayer for yourself is selfish. If you don't tell anyone then we can't pray for you. What is it God tells us? "Ye have not because ye ask not" (From memory and I'm not sure of the reference, but I can look it up).

G'nad, I hope your hunting picks up soon. I'm looking forward to having some venison if you are able to make it to the Entmoot.

Hehheh, thanks for pointing me to a propane expert. I'm sure I can get all the questions I have, and a lot that I don't have, answered on Hank's site. ;^)

me too... I've never gone this late into a season with nuthin' in the freezer... I'm startin' to question my manhood... I'm usually down to my last buck tag by this time, and I'm huntin' horns... I haven't released an arrow yet... not cuz I haven't seen any or been close, I just haven't had a clean shot... I've never wounded a deer, and I ain't gonna start now...

So did you find a black cloak?

We just went with one of the "cheap" Halloween capes. I think with the clasp and the ring on a chain he can carry it off.

I thought about trying to convince him to wear one of his Mom's sequined tops (like she'd let him) as Mithril...but we won't go there.

And more time for NaNoWriMo!

We'll be praying for your ex-boss as well.
