I expect my kids to be taken away any minute...

LOL! I just have a tendency to show the emotions of whatever I'm reading / thinking on my face, which gets me some odd looks at times. I'll be remembering something from a book I read while waiting in line at the grocery or somewhere like that and realize I'm grimacing, for example...

Not a shooting "yet". Here's the thread.. White van surrounded. Parts of I-270 closed...around Baltimore.

Not a shooting we don't think.... but a rifle spotted in a white van or box truck (which are not the same thing)

White van points gun at School Bus! ^

I'm the same way...I just get so "in" to what I read...if it's good. And the LOTR is Goooooodddd!

Really, my husband is quite indulgent and will listen to me read and read, unless he's laying down and "is overcome with weariness".

Being able to get really into a book is almost required growing up with a big family. I get to the point where people can be shouting at me and I don't notice them. Though there's a definite downside to that, too...

I'm a little worried about this novel project as that's going to be even MORE consuming than just reading. I've always made up stories in my head in order to amuse myself, and would sometimes find myself whispering conversations out loud. Hmm...how to freak out your co-workers?

That's a good question, Corin. I'm not sure. I like to think that it's actually a good thing, as it allows us to have something special to ourselves...a bit selfish perhaps, yes. But, the way I see it, if the Mrs was a fellow Hobbit-Head, we'd eventually get bored and run out of things to discuss in that vein. Did that make sense?

Kind of like Yin and Yang...each half creates a whole, despite a vast difference in hobbies.

LOL...she say "That's nice!" or "Cool!", then just shake her head and say, "Only you..."

See, I'm taking a much more casual approach to this. I have my outline and my main characters and that's all I'm gonna work with. I'm thinking things through, but I'm going to let them happen.

Remember, this is quantity, not quality writing. We can edit later. I plan to just to stream of consciousness writing and just sit down and start telling a story....like I often do on FR (when I say too much!).

Well, Mrs. Stormhands and I like a lot of the same things, but she's never really gotten into my fondness for science-fiction and fantasy. I guess that's okay...she accepts my weirdness and just sighs...

He likes me! He really likes me!

I AM a nice person. But when it comes to idjits with small minds I have little patience...

I have my outline and my main characters and that's all I'm gonna work with.

That's about all I have...except that I spent a few minutes yesterday and today sketching my little time-and-space portal object thingie (OT, is that the proper terminology?)

Trouble is, I tend to have a possible scene pop into my head, and I get pulled into it and start thinking of every detail. It'll all play through in my head. Nothing I'll probably actually USE, so it's not even useful, but I can't help it! That's what I mean by consuming...not the actual writing part.
