Twinkies pass the color test, the texture test and they keep forever, so we may be on to something there! but.... not moonpies!
To: Corin Stormhands
mmmmmmmmm..... moon pie.... gives my flashbacks of Korea... you can trade an MRE for a bowl of noodles, a pile of wontons, a coke and a moon pie....
To: HairOfTheDog
How the heck do you break a "crisp corner" off of a Twinkie? And they're more of an odd yellow color than light brown.
Huh-uh...not it.

I just found out that one of these is Alan Lee:

Can you tell which one?

KrumkakeMmmmmmmmm! Krumkake.....melts in your mouth.....my favorite...... But I like all those Scandinavian breads. Kardomom (sp?) bread too.... You had it nailed about lefse.... I think we always have it served already buttered and sugared. That's why I thought it just came that way..... (Can you tell I don't do much of the baking myself?? ;^))
I think lembas, in Tolkien's mind, was some kind of hybrid of all the things we are talking about here, with a little magic thrown in for good measure.... Now, how are we going to find a little magic in this world.... hmmmm.... pray over it I guess...

Hullo all....stopped by to say hi... gotta run... won't be around much tomorrow either... y'all take care...
SuziQ, thanks for the Freepmail...loved it!

3rd on the right? It would be easier if he'd open his mouth.
To: ecurbh; Sam Cree
My guess is second from the left. Do you know?

Would this be a bad time to mention that the Numenoreans had a waybread too?
I read about it, but now I can't remember where... I thought it was in Unfinished Tales but now I can't find it there!
To: g'nad
Be safe.
To: Corin Stormhands
That'd be my guess, too.
To: Sam Cree
You're right - the 3rd one back on the right (the one looking down at his ring).
To: RosieCotton
No there is no sugar in the dough.... some sprinkle sugar on it after it is cooked!
To: ecurbh
Alan Lee... Second one from the left?
To: All
By jove, I've got it!!
In the screen cap it is obvious that they used one of those sandwich maker thingies (notice the diagonal line running through the square?).
Lembas is nothing more than....

Grilled cheese sandwiches (not burnt like these are!). LOL!!

Now, how are we going to find a little magic in this world.... Will a little Russian magic do?

Hello All, glad to be back.
Went to see my daughter's photography exhibit...had a nice time.
Her roomate gave her a party before the opening, then all the kids and my wife and I went over to the gallery. I'd forgotten how simple a cocktail party can be when you're a college student, all it takes is a little beer, a bottle of gin, some tonic, some cheese cubes and crackers and about 15 kids.
Anyway, my daughter's stuff was the best in the show, IMO :-)
2 of her professors were there, one exhibiting also. My daughter had not told them that she had entered stuff, so I guess they were surprised to see her there.

Alan Lee... Second one from the left? LOL! At least I erred in good company...
To: Corin Stormhands
Too late to sneak?
To: Corin Stormhands
Probably.
