I typed in "lembas recipe" in Google and came up with about 8 pages!! LOL!!!
Here's one of the more organized ones.
Lembas Recipe

Hey! - Where did you get that pic!
To: HairOfTheDog
What I want to know is, how do you get your computer to put a slash through an "o" like the Scandinavians do?
To: HairOfTheDog
I got it from ecurbh. Dunno where he got it from.
To: HairOfTheDog
It looks a bit like folded lefse... but lefse is most definately soft.... not crumbly.
To: HairOfTheDog
"But I don't think lembas was anything like lefse!"
They might have been, since JRRT used Scandinavian epics as an inspiration for LOTR.

You guys are a bit "off" calling it a flatbread... Oh c'mon Hair. We're all a bit "off" no matter what we call things...
To: Sam Cree
Welcome back Sam!
To: Sam Cree
DØ YØU MEAN LIKE THIS?
I typed it into MS WORD and insert symbol, looked for the slashed O and hit insert. Copy and paste into post reply box. Viola!
To: Sam Cree
If there are odd characters in text you are copying... if you copy/paste it from the text as you see it... and they will paste correctly here:
aa = Å (å)
ae = Æ (æ)
oe = Ø (ø)
Here is what is fascinating about the web.... look at this question I found in a search for an example to show you!
GEN-NORDIC-L: Special letters in the Scandinavian Alphabet

trying to discern the true nature of lembasY'all have heard the theory that lembas was an early prototype of Twinkies, haven't you...?
To: Sam Cree
Well, except you would never call something that looks like a soft tortilla a "cake".
Now Krumkake, Maybe! It is very sweet! and crumbly. But not sustaining, it is almost entirely suger and butter.

Oh c'mon Hair. We're all a bit "off" no matter what we call things... Heh.... You have a point!
To: Overtaxed
Got the pic
here. Click the link for the Extended DVD review. Lots of great info and screencaps.
To: 2Jedismom
It is a shortbread. He flavors it with crushed cardamon seeds and it's quite good! It's pressed very thin into molds and baked. It's a swedish cookie, I believe... I think I've had that...we have some Swedish friends. They use the same sort of molds as are used for Springerle, but it does have a different consistancy and flavor. Sounds good!
To: Overtaxed
Not so much recipes as trying to discern the true nature of lembas. Or the true essense of lembas...
I am surprised this lost art of the elves holds your interest this much! If it is food, it is interesting? - Is that it? - Even the food of the snoots? ;~D

Y'all have heard the theory that lembas was an early prototype of Twinkies, haven't you...? If Tolkein had written about Southern-Earth lembas would've been Moonpies...
To: Overtaxed
That does NOT look like
lembasThough I admit that's not really where my eyes were directed...
To: HairOfTheDog
You guys are a bit "off" calling it a flatbread...Yeah...I guess that's not a good word. I haven't had it rolled with a proper grooved pin, I don't think, though I seem to remember seeing one...just rolled very thin. And no sugar in the dough.
To: Sam Cree
how do you get your computer to put a slash through an "o" like the Scandinavians do?On a Windows machine, try holding down the "Alt" key, and then type on the number pad the following: 0216 for "Ø" and 0248 for "ø". Also, on a Windows system, you can go to the Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Character Map program to see a listing of all the regular and special characters that are available.
Welcome back! Did you have a good trip?
