I was thinking the "crumbly" described the usual texture. I can imagine "crumbs" come from just about any baked item.

Right. Not the texture of say...a chewy oatmeal cookie, though...or bread. The crumbly texture of a say a crisp animal cracker type cookie.

I think I like the 'Nilla Wafers of Lothlorien better than animal crackers. :)

None of us will ever be able to perfect a description of lembas, let alone a recipe! - It is an art of the elves... who have passed over the sea and taken their secrets with them. And none now live who remember it.

By the way... Elves do not eat fruitcake.

Of course not, dear. Elves are fruitcakes.

Yes, I agree. They fit better, as a matter of fact. Very sweet.

That's the one thing about the digestive biscuit that doesn't fit...they are not really very sweet. Sweet, but not really sweet, like I imagine a honey-cake would be.

But then I think that during the time Tolkien was writing, there might have been restrictions on sugar or something...or peoples idea of sweet was different. For example, I know in Mexico, their cookies are a lot less sweet than I am used to.

So perhaps they seemed very sweet, at least to Tolkien, at the time.

The honeycakes of the Beornings has always reminded me of Baklava!

I just stuck my foot in something bad on another thread if you honestly have the time and patience for reading a really long convoluted story...

VT Christian Homeschooling Mom Taken Away In Shackles! ^

Once in awhile the gun-crowd takes up company with really bad heroes to their cause, and this feels like the same mistake. This woman has a lot more going on than homeschooling.

I bet Ernie Keebler does.

Oooh...what you said.

I saw that thread yesterday. I agree with what you said, but I just didn't have the energy...

So we might as well bring 'Nilla Wafers, animal crackers, and Digestive Biscuits to the Entmoot instead of coming up with our own recipes?

Or can we just bring Oreos and call it a draw?

I don't want to read it. It's either

A.) About a nut who happens to homeschool, or it's
B.) About a innocent homeschooler that others perceive as a nut and the article is writen to convince everyone else of it or it's
C.) About an innocent homeschooler and homeschool advocates are trying to convince everyone else that their rights are being abused.

Which one?

They don't make Oreo's with white chocolate, do they? But then we'd be missing all the good anti-oxidants.
