It's about four hours. I don't know if you were here the other day when I was whining about it. My sister really screwed up the schedule for the weekend and is really making it difficult for us. But I'm not going to see her. I'm going 1) because my Mom wants to see the boys and 2) because I want to see my cousins.
Still it's a quick trip...
While I knew "Counting Flowers on the Wall" was about a fella who was, uhm, not mentally stable, I didn't know it referred to a specific mental institution!
Counting flowers on the wall
That don't bother me at all
Playing solitaire 'til dawn
With a deck of fifty-one
Smoking cigarettes and watching Captain Kangaroo
Now don't tell me, I've nothing to do...
Same idea, maybe?
Austin is not a bad town to live in, despite it being a liberal haven. It has a lot of green areas, for instance... I mean, lots of areas with trees and grass, not with Green Party members. Although it has a lot of those too, I guess... but then they're always fun to laugh at. If you like people watching, there are a lot of odd people to see in Austin.
A night light....
Yeah, pretty much. In my duration with this think tank, two Executive Directors were fired for financial mismanagement within a six-year period.
But I have the distinction of being fired from the same job twice! When the first ED was fired, they slowly let go of all the management. At one point so many people were gone that I was in charge of 75% of the organization and I was way in over my head. They actually called a staff meeting and put me in charge in front of everyone...including my boss - that's how she found out she was fired. I was fired a month later.
When things settled down they re-hired me. I found out the new ED had two sets of books and was approached by some board members. The ED found out about it, but this was during my radiation treatment for cancer, so he couldn't let me go (without a fight from the Board). The day I put in my weekly report that I had gone for my last CT-Scan, he fired me.
A year later they said to him "you can leave or we'll send you to jail."
They asked me to come back, but I priced myself out of their range.
Several people put him in his place. But I doubt that will stop him. He hasn't posted in a while.
