Do you guys have opinions on database software for membership type organizations? Our outgoing membership person at the pool has all of our records in Filemaker. She's leaving and we have a new person set to take over, but she needs software. Is there a better option than Filemaker?
And, if there is, is there a simple way to transfer data from Filemaker to a new program?
I found Filemaker on half.com for a decent price (we don't need the web/pda stuff options).

It is going slow.I noticed that too. This $65,000 fund-raiser seems to be lasting longer than the previous two $80,000 fund-raisers.
Maybe they should have waited on the purges until AFTER this fund-raiser.

Some are with-holding because they are mad, some can't afford it, but those that still use it alot shouldn't with-hold because they are mad. I will be back in eventually. But I'll probably wait until the Freepathon is over.
You're right. Some are mad. And the powers that be need to pay attention to that.

If all the database has to do is store information in a flat-file database like an address-book, it may do just fine.
What do you need it to do that it isn't doing now? Anything?
Access is an obvious choice if you have needs that are a bit fancier, and it is relatively easy to learn. You shouldn't have trouble transferring data from Filemaker no matter what you chose... So it depends what you need it to do.
