Yeah, I'm pretty sure sugar is bad for us, on more levels than we realize. But that cookie dough and chocolate chip ice cream is sure great...specially Publix brand...once in awhile.

But I only get it out on special occasions!

Fun surprises are OK, but I am always drained after putting on a public face in a crowd all day with lots of people at a conference....

As soon as it is reasonably cool enough out to go blanket the horses, they are getting early dinner so I can go to bed!

I'm not sure "Men in Black" covers the "no violence" part.

Give 'em a mix. Here's a "starter set."

Sabrina - the Harrison Ford/Julia Ormond one
Babe - just for grins, it's a hoot the first time you see it.
Mrs. Doubtfire
Madame X (an old one with Lana Turner)
An Imitation of Life, also Lana Turner
Shrek
Tea with Mussolini

I know, it's a list of chick flicks, and I'm not sure the Lana Turner versions would be on DVD. But they're great movies.

It does fit you!

Got it loaded yet? I streamed it live, it shouldn't be too big...

Actually "Dave" is a funny movie as well.

I'd second "Chariots of Fire" (we had friends who were in prison in China with Eric Liddle!)
The Sixth Sense (if she can handle suspense)
Young Frankenstein

Babe is a hoot... But I am not sure he would want to own it ;~D

I agree on Men in Black... Dad would like it... brother suggested it. The violence is kinda clean, and sortof make-believe, if I recall, I don't remember any spurting blood... but I think it is iffy for her.

Rain Man was Tom Cruise...

But Apollo 13 is a good choice. Also "Big" and even "Splash."

I just got a phone call from my daughter and she has gotten some of her (photography) work accepted for a show in a gallery in Syracuse (She goes to SU). So she's about to have her first (professional) public showing of her stuff.

Her professors don't even know about it, she just entered the art show on her own, at 19.

But, apparently it's a reputable gallery that often works with SU.

So we're all excited to death.

Hair, I'm trying to think of a movie...though I've heard that *brother, where art thou* is good...anyway, I love the soundtrack.

She just about had a heart-attack when Dad bought her a toolbox full of basic tools and gift-wrapped each plier and screwdriver seperately. (He hid wrapped jewelry in the toolbox too... she nearly fainted.)

I don't think she can handle suspense. ;~D

Dave is a funny movie! Now on the considered list!

Of course you are right about Rain Man....

Funny thing is, when I typed Rain Man, I meant Forrest Gump!

Well, you don't want to cause coronary arrest (do you?). So maybe suspenseful isn't a good idea...

Another one of my favorite old ones is "The Greatest Show on Earth" - 1952 Best Picture.

And since Christmas isn't that far away, you could to "It's a Wonderful Life" or "White Christmas."

Just saw it. Karl Urbane was the funniest...talking about Wormtongue being the bad guy and "could it be him?" LOL

Merry had his gash rubbed out though...grrr!

Actually both are good selections.

It probably doesn't fit your criteria, but "The Shawshank Redemption" is a mighty fine movie.

I do like Shawshank Redemption, but it has that one pretty brutal element... [shudder]
