Do you think we'll at least get some inkling that Sam is mistaken about Frodo's "condition?"That's the main thing I'm wondering about. Leaving the story hanging with Frodo "dead" would be pretty rough, especially as there are plenty of people who have never read the books and wouldn't know. They didn't change the fall of Gandalf, so who knows?
Sam's reaction is going to make me cry one way or another, I'm sure. Poor little guy!

Oops...guess I responded too soon! Where would that make the cut, then? Do they have them just starting into the tunnels, I wonder? Hmm...or you may be right...they may leave them lost in the tunnels, maybe having found some indication of Shelob's presence.

Seems to me like the "best" way to end it would be with Sam overhearing the orcs saying "he's not dead..."
And then the camera zooms into the look of horror on Sam's face. Quick get PJ on the line!

they may leave them lost in the tunnels, maybe having found some indication of Shelob's presence. They can end the movie right where the Phial of Galadriel is reflected in Shelob's eyes but right before you see the whole spider.
To: Corin Stormhands
I don't know...that really WOULD be heartbreaking (I admit, I got tears in my eyes just THINKING about leaving poor Sam like that).
But if they don't even get to Shelob, this is all moot anyway...
To: Overtaxed
Yikes! That would certainly be a cliffhanger!
To: RosieCotton
Think of the symmetry.
FOTR ends with Sam, "We may yet, Mr. Frodo..."
TTT ends with Sam realizing Frodo isn't dead...
ROTK ends with Sam to Rosie "I'm back..."
To: Corin Stormhands
ROTK ends with Sam to Rosie "I'm back..." I heard they weren't doing the Scouring of the Shire either. Would they just skip that part and go straight to the Grey Havens?
To: Overtaxed
Sean Astin's daughter supposedly plays Elanor Gamgee (Sam and Rosie's daughter, or one of 'em!) in ROTK, so they must show SOMETHING of the Shire at the end.
To: Overtaxed
I heard they weren't doing the Scouring of the Shire either. That would just be wrong! But don't we know Bilbo is back in ROTK? So surely that's the Grey Havens part...

Arrgghhh!!!
My son's French teacher just called. He isn't doing his homework, and he's been telling us he didn't have any!
Arrrggghhh!!!
The television is coming OUT of his room (along with the Playstation and Nintendo) BEFORE I leave town tonite.

le sneake?
To: RosieCotton
Sean Astin's daughter supposedly plays Elanor Gamgee They do need to get back to the Shire. I suppose everything there is reasonably hunky-dory, no scouring required.
To: Corin Stormhands
Wait until it's down to five posts! Bad dwarf...
To: Overtaxed
Surely they'll show SOMETHING of the scouring! Doesn't seem like they could just remove something that big from the story!
To: RosieCotton
Dwarf Good! Hobbitses Baaaaaad!!!
To: RosieCotton
Should we let the dwarf have it?
