Good mornin'! - G'nad is tryin' to kill the thread, but we seem reluctant to leave.

I have pretty much background with LOTR though, having first read it c.1969 :-) And then reread it, usually about once every 10 years.
But I don't mind the anachronisms at all. Shippey (I think he now has Tolkien's old job at Oxford) figures that they are a way to help us moderns find a "bridge" into the ancient past. And, of course, to show how ordinary folks can rise to the heroic levels of ancient legendary figures. Plus, I think the hobbits help illustrate Tolkien's love of the English countryside and its links into the distant past.
Shippey has a couple of (very positive) interesting books out on Tolkien.

Huh? Is exactly what I said. It isn't much better in context. I thought it was a notable sentence.

G'nad is tryin' to kill the thread, but we seem reluctant to leave.Isn't the way with dwarves? Always ready for a kill. We elves and hobbits are hard to get rid of though.

Judging by some of the instructions that accompany software (and peripherals, lol), alot of the techies are not really proficient with the English language.

I have got to work for awhile.... See y'all later on!

Isn't the way with dwarves? Always ready for a kill. You are correct madame...but it's what I've been trained to do...Thank you for putting up with my unrefined manners...it truly shows the class and resilience of the elves and hobbitses on this thread...
With my compliments...
To: g'nad
Thank you kindly Master Dwarf. This elf accepts your humble appologies, and your generous gift. You may yet become a friend to the elves. :)

You may yet become a friend to the elves. I wouldn't go quite that far...
To: g'nad

To: Overtaxed
