I rarely watch anything made later than 1980.

Corin's Top Ten Movie List (as of today, it changes periodically)

1. LOTR/FOTR
(and after that in no particular order)
2. Gone with the Wind
3. The Greatest Show on Earth (1952 Best Picture, Charlton Heston, Jimmy Stuart)
4. Shenandoah
5. It's a Wonderful Life (is there a Jimmy Stuart theme?)
6. How the West was Won (yeah, Jimmy's in it...)
7. Donovan's Reef
8. Young Frankenstein
9. Imitation of Life (what the heck is that doing on a guy's list?)
10. The Wizard of Oz (sentimental childhood favorite)

Hmmmm....interesting. Only FOTR was after 1980 (although I do like Chariot's of Fire not because it's a great movie, but because of the story, we had friends in prison in China with Eric Liddle).

And I'd never noticed how many of those had Jimmy Stuart...

Sure it is. After tomorrow night, I'll be offline for a week. I'll miss the quadruple precious unless we post a lot in the next 36 hours...

You should have seen the dignified way Rocko got 19000. People could take some lessons from him...

Hmmm...I don't know how I'd rank them but there are a few that I never pass up a chance to watch:

LOTR/FOTR
Ben Hur (The Heston version, not the Navarre one)
Casablanca
Maltese Falcon
Singing in the Rain
On the Town
The General
Key Largo
Double Indemnity
The Godfather

I definitly have a Bogart theme going.

Julia's not too popular around FR for her political statements. But I don't let that influence my entertainment choices.

I don't like Julia as a person, but she's not bad as an actress. THe only other actress that appealed at all to me was Sandra Bullock. Don't really care for any of the others. Who chose those actresses anyway? Personally I would have picked a completely different set.

You can vote once per day I guess.. It's not cheating, it's FREEPING!

I voted for Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks because they are cuter than a bug's ears.

I can't promise I will have the attention span to keep following this till november Corin... you'll have to help.

What!?? You didn't vote for Mel? I mean, Tom Hanks is OK too, but...

I did the poll, too...voted for Sandra Bullock and Mel Gibson. However, in doing so I caught sight of the name of the-actor-who-makes-me-retch. Yuck, yuck, yuck. Distract me, please distract me!

Dignified? There is no dignity in sneaking for the precious!

Isildur thought he looked dignified with it hanging around his neck now didn't he? And we know what happened there...

Elrond wimped out and caused us all sorts of trouble...

It's hard to pick favorites, isn't it? I have a lot of movies I like a lot, but to pick any one of them as my favorite? Depends on what mood I'm in.

Some old movies I like:
The Third Man (I've seen it more times than I'd like to admit...)
Gaslight
All This and Heaven, Too
Love Affair (the original with Charles Boyer)
Algiers

OK...got distracted - the last four are all Charles Boyer. Why don't they make actors like him these days? Sigh...

Joseph Cotton is another favorite, hence The Third Man.

OOH Favorite movie lists!

LoTR (all three - even though I haven't seen them all)
Fiddler on the Roof
Casablanca
Broadacast News
Raisin' Arizona
Holy Grail
The Meaning of Life
The Blues Brothers
Steel Magnolias

I start out with the serious, but I don't stay serious long.....

See, told you my list would change. I like Casablanca, Singin' in the Rain and On The Town. Then there's Citizen Kaine...

But we're pretty consistently pre-1980...

Mel is good, very good.

But I can't fall in love with him because his is too perfect. I just watch him. Tom Hanks is more like the dorky everyman I seem to have the best shot at...

Here is my favorites

LOTR (of course)
Man from Snowy River
Return From Snowy River
Sabrina (one with Julia Ormond)
Man in the Brown Suit (made for TV movie)
Ever After
Dirty Dancing
Pride and Prejudice
Matrix

THat's all I can think of off hand. At least those are the ones I have watched so many times I've lost count. (Except for LOTR as of yet. Give me some time.)

Raising Arizona was a hoot! I also like O Brother Where Art Thou.

Another "new" movie I like is "Return To Me". David Duchovny is superb in that movie.

On top of being so good looking, he is such a wonderful actor. Did you see him in Signs? WOW!!!!
