No it wouldn't! It's just like a bunch of little cities all stuck together. I went when I was 15 with my drama class. I got separated from them in a mall and managed to find my way back to the hotel with no problems at all!
I'd like to see Ground Zero.

" I am a country girl and a city that big would wig me out! "
I grew up in the country too, it's taken me all my life to get to like big cities, but I actually like Manhatten now (for brief periods). + I can stay with my crazy sister in law there, which my wife would like.
Manhatten has great food and art museums + it's usually cheap to fly to.

OK if that is what everyone else ends up wanting to do... but it makes me cringe thinking about it! - I would be afraid of not even finding my way out of JFK.
To: 2Jedismom
That does look cool... did you get the FoTR one? - Is it good?
To: Overtaxed
There're spiders under there.... You know it's sad, don't you, that both of us know what we're talkin' about here...wonder how Aunt Bea and Clara are doing with the elven cloaks...

Isn't anyone else interested in DC?
I would love to go see DC! But I would want to have a week. I have heard you can spend several days just in the Smithsonian. Would love to go see the monuments, and the White House.
To: HairOfTheDog
I went to DC for the inauguration...it's pretty expensive. But it's worth it and a week would be best. The Smithsonian is great.
I'll go there if it's the will of the council.
Should I write Tahanu and ask if TORN has any thoughts on a party in 2003?

Except it's going to be winter...hmmmm... I don't do snow. I do have some "off-season" loding options available to me in Virginia. (I may still have them by 04).
Of course, DC would be perfect for me! If I still have to pay for two tickets for my non-standard sized backside, I'm not flying. (although we hope we'll be down to size by then)
To: HairOfTheDog
I'm OK with DC also. Or Florida, which means I could drive:-) But I suppose everyone will weigh in on location preferences.
It strikes me as fun if all us (insert a fitting description of what we are) get to meet each other.
To: 2Jedismom
Sure, ask! - is Tahanu the one that took you seriously about the gash... or the one that blew you off?
To: Sam Cree
Get to meet each other in RL, I mean.

Not to mention that IS cutting it pretty close to Christmas. If we do it at Christmas, I'll never get my holiday baking done.
To: HairOfTheDog
I am up for the Dec 17/18 premier midnight show! - Really! - I thought others decided it would be too hard to do right near Christmas. December might be tricky for me. But looking at the 03 calendar, that week/weekend should be okay.
To: RosieCotton; HairOfTheDog; g'nad
The dwarves might take issue with that. Thank you. g'nad and I aren't interested in providing security for any old "hobbitmoot."

It would be a trip (in more ways than one) if they had it in NYC, huh? I'd love that! NYC? Well that lets me out. I'm not going anywhere near NYC!
To: HairOfTheDog
Yes, that's the one that took me seriously...and I feel so much better now, seeing that bloody cotton-pickin' eyebrow on Merry in that Two Towers preview on DVD! Humph!
I'll write him/her right now and explain what we're trying to do.
To: Overtaxed
Come on, OT! It's just a bit of fun!

NYC would work for me. I'd have to bring the family along, but that's okay. Corin, Jr. was there this summer on choir tour and would love to go back...
