Maybe Elrond's trying to get rid of Arwen...Is he related to Feanor? Wasn't Feanor the elf that killed a whole bunch of other elves as he tried to get back to Middle-Earth? I guess the acorn doesn't fall too far from the Mallorn tree.

Really. I mean, how old is she anyway? I guess he figures if he can't get her married off there's no other way to get her out of the house...I discussed some of this with my siblings the other day. Why would a 3000 year old (or so...don't have my books here) woman be interested in a sixty year old man anyway? Couldn't she find someone a little sooner, maybe?
Not to mention I'm not sure Elrond would be a barrel of laughs to have as a father-in-law. Yikes!

Not meant as bashing, by the way. Just pondering...

Why would a 3000 year old (or so...don't have my books here) woman be interested in a sixty year old man anyway? I've wondered that. And besides, don't you figure once she becomes mortal those 3,000 years are gonna start catching up with her?
And of course, father (The ring is not my problem) Elrond will say to Aragorn, "She's your problem now..."

"You cannot give me this!" ["Can't you take a hint?"]

Well...point taken. He's not my type, but I suppose (for the right person) he's worth the wait.
But I have to say he doesn't seem like much fun. No offense - just the way he strikes me every time I reread the books. Noble? Very. Manly? Ooh yeah. Sense of humor? Ehhh...not much.

He needs a shower and shave...

You think if we keep this up that we'll end up on Hair's "list"?I suppose I probably am too, now...bashing Aragorn! Bad, bad hobbit!
Actually, he's not a bad guy - just not someone it seems like it would be easy to get close to. And, as I said, not the jolliest guy around. Guess that's why the hobbits appeal to me...they seem to know how to have a good time!
