Well, if you go back to the original discussion, with the woman asking Corin's wife if her list had been approved...I see it like this. The woman wasn't asking Mrs. Stormhands if the list had been approved...the woman was attacking her for what was on it. Passive aggressive behavior. I understand and have had to tolerate this kind of behavior from patients or associates before for the sake of professionalism or just plain good manners...but it rarely gets by me. Rarely do I get the opportunity to redirect a person as bluntly as I want to. That cow statement was what I would have liked to have said.

Too bad manners sometimes get in the way of those great comebacks!

BTW, she did remove Angela's Ashes and The Color Purple from the list (because of the sexual content). But the Board Chairman responded to one parent by saying, "Bring me a copy of the offensive passage and I'll take a look at it..." That seemed to take care of it.

Oh that's the best way to deal with a passive-aggressive! A cool-headed response. That's what makes a person a good manager. My immediate response is just disgust, then I just can't be bothered by them anymore. It's why I'll never be a good manager!

Good one! That's our general rule (we have made exceptions). If you start something you have to finish. If you start a sport, you have to finish the season. You don't ever have to sign up for that sport again for the rest of your life, but you have to finish the season...

Oh that's the best way to deal with a passive-aggressive! Being the southern woman that she is, my wife understands passive-agressive.
To: Corin Stormhands
Well, I think my parents did the same thing to me, and I still am not good about putting my tools away when I am done with a job.
To: Corin Stormhands
my wife understands passive-agressive.Oh, yeah...the predominate behavior of the women of the south!
Another way I'm a square peg.

Trust me. You don't want to see me get active-agressive. :)
It gets real ugly real fast.

I think I'm pretty direct...not passive aggressive at all. But I think a direct behavior tempored with good manners is better than P-A behavior masked with "good manners".
Does that make sense?
Ten minutes till I air out the porch and start washing toys!

direct behavior tempored with good manners is better than P-A behavior masked with "good manners". I agree. Besides...when I get ticked off my "good manners" tend to slip to where they won't mask anything.
I tend to say things that are best left unsaid. :)

LOL! I'm usually able to make it home to Steve before I unload on anyone...then I stand in the kitchen waving my arms around, letting him know all about it. I like to do that because he agrees with me on everything. Or he'll say something funny and get me to laughing.
To: All
Ok...see you all later, going to wash those toys off now.

A former coworker, long married, said his father told him on his wedding day "Son, you can be right, or you can be married, but not both!" LOL

A former coworker, long married, said his father told him on his wedding day "Son, you can be right, or you can be married, but not both!" LOL I make a habit of telling any groom "Just remember, she's always right..."
To: HairOfTheDog
Well I have to go talk some sense into someone right now. Be back later. :)

my wife understands passive-agressive Being a jarhead, I just can't get my arms around the passive aggressive thing...now out-n-out violence...
To: g'nad
I can't imaging you being passive about anything...especially the precious...
