So Trump thought he was buying a GOP congressman with his pardon?

That's not what Trump said.

Trump basically did the same with former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, and Blago pretty much has been loyal to Trump, so I suspect Trump expected Cuellar to be the same.

Never pardon a Democrat, no matter how unjustly he has been treated by his fellow snakes

Rather than buying Trump acted against weaponization of the justice system. I think he assumed that having been treated with such viciousness by the democrats. HC would want nothing to do with them in future. Frankly I would have assumed the same and find his decision quixotic.

Yup.

Trump needs to immediately reverse this pardon and prosecute this criminal. Why show weakness now?

PDJT was careful not to oblige Cuellar.

If other members of Cuellar’s party are ill at ease with its headlong plunge into lunacy and communism, they may eventually react favorably to the kindness PDJT has shown here, even as Cuellar seemingly dawdles.

It seems as if Cuellar remains a very prominent individual in his party. Time will hopefully work some healing on his badly abused donkey party soul. If not, his daughters and maybe even his wife will probably eventually leave the donkey party plantation and confess their appreciation and admiration for the already legendary PDJT.

Meekness, K.

It should not be mistaken as weakness.

There’s a big difference between the two.

Presidential pardons used to be extremely rare. In recent years they’ve been handed out like candy. Mass pardons and clemency actions are becoming increasingly common. Also pardons of family members and close friends are becoming routine.

A number of both Biden and Trump pardons or clemency actions have been unseemly and beneath the moral character one would expect a president to demonstrate.

Cuellar is an ungrateful pig. His Party of Death throws him and his wife’s butt in jail and he still hates the Republicans. We don’t need people like him running around claiming to be an American because he is not an American.

No, he’s just counterpunching as usual.

All will be well eventually. Cuellar will now have three women incessantly singing PDJT’s praises into his ears for the rest of his time on earth.

so, you believe the headline and the lying media?

When will we start reading the whole article, consider all the other things we know about Trump, instead of being influence by the media?

I don’t know what the President thought; but it would have been wise to keep quiet about this and avoid that appearance.

Yes, but I personally find it a good thing that Trump doesn't care about avoiding a false bad appearances.

Yeah, I had a similar thought. This thing is screwed up on both sides. If I belonged to a certain party and they tried to crucify me and my family, I’d be damned if I would stay with that party when someone from another party pardons me. On the other hand, Pres. Trump should not expect for everyone to change their political preferences, Some people are just hard wired that way, and you can’t fix stupid. Cuellar’s career is done. Dems won’t vote for him and neither will republicans, imho.

The entire Cuellar family is democrat. Why the blank Trump pardoned him is an example of Trump making a bad decision. AGAIN!

“ Trump, so I suspect Trump expected Cuellar to be the same.

No. Trump knows people. It’s we who like to put things into categories. I suggest getting to know Trump. He has written books. He has won multiple presidential elections and shut down many wars.

This little criminal, Texas border district did not get the better of Trump

Trump most likely based it on what Blagojevich did after Trump pardoned him.
