My fifth-grade teacher was married to a German woman. She said that she was a girl during WW2. If they saw a cat in the alley they would start saying “Here, kitty kitty.”
Supper.
Circle of life alright.
The place I worked at , the approach to the building was flanked on both sides with Bradford Pear trees , a really crappy choice for landscaping.
Anyways, the Starlings loved these beautiful rows of trees and they were soon filled with hundreds of crapping birds. Every week the maintenance guy would be out there washing all this bird crap off of the walkways, which had a pebbled finish , a million crevices for bird crap.
It wasn’t long before feral cats discovered that there were plenty of birds for the taking.
Soon employees were also feeding the cats, so it didn’t take too long before there were all sorts of feral cats eating birds and cat food. Rats, not wanting to miss out on bird eggs or cat food soon joined the feast.
Just as the cats figured out where the birds were, coyotes and foxes found out that there were lots of cats , rats and birds for the taking. Employees witnessed some cat abductions. The security guard said, it was mayhem out there , birds, cats, rats, foxes and coyotes all feasting on one another , caught on security cameras.
Between the mayhem and the bird crap, it became too much.
We came to work one day and every one of those trees had been cut down. No more birds .
And I’m hovering like a cat
Waiting for the windshield on the freeway
It tastes like...?
I had to look that one up.
That is quite the story.
Some bald eagles just aren't interested in snacks like cats and fish. Some just use cats and fish to land a larger meal. They think to themselves, "If I pull this off, I'll eat like a king."
Best album, ever!
Well, Texas Eagle. It sounds like you speak from experience. How does human flesh taste?
Heh, heh. Tooshay. 👏 👏 👏
Our missing cat is almost 20 lbs. There are Bald Eagles in the area. I hope we can locate him and bring him home soon.
Oldest excuse in the book
It was a one-in-a-million shot, doc. One-in-a-million.
We have a 16 lb cat that loves to spend time on our deck near where eagles roam...and we are very wary of them. HE probably would kill an eagle, tho...he put me in hospital for 3 nights with one claw.
Yikes. You can get “cat scratch fever.”
In ‘71 when traveling up the Alcan Hwy., we stopped for gas. A bird — an eagle, I think — swooped down and grabbed another customer’s little dog. Weird and sad.
I hope they kept the partridge in one of the pear trees.
My wife has Chihuahuas. She has what is know as a Coyote Vest for them to wear.
They are made out of Kevlar fabric.
They sell them on Amazon.
Buy one for her and you will be her hero.
Eagles will drop their “catch” onto rocks to kill it.
Or at least stun it. So it is not wiggling around when they literally rip its guts out.
I have seen an eagle do this with a fish on the Merrimack River in NH. Drop it from a height and then fly down to eat it. Pick it up again and drop it a second time.
FYI, they also like to perch on the top of the cross on the very top of Saint Maries Parish. Its steeple is the highest point on the west side of Manchester.
Sometimes there are two eagles up there. One on each side of the cross.
