The tax refund check, which totaled $27,910,676.69, was supposed to go to an unnamed company in Richmond, Virginia.
Janitors called in for questioning?.
They do it to catch the interest float.
When you mail check totaling in the billions the float is real money.
What a crack up.
The other day I turned in a counterfeit $100 bill to the bank that I got about 20 years ago and came across again among some old papers, I wasn’t a 100% sure it was fake, so I asked the teller to check it for me.
“A judge set bond at $100,000 with a Nebbia hold for Garcia, Bedford and Boxie and $50,000 with a Nebbia hold for Villanueva. A Nebbia hold requires that defendants prove the money they post for bond comes from verified non-criminal sources.”

Smart on the judges part.....I doubt any of these brainiacs have made an honest dollar in their lives.

A couple of years ago I sold my Harley to a guy that paid $10k cash......my wife used that pen to check every bill.....piece of mind for under $5......worth every penny.
That’s a rather dull looking collection of cretins and halfwits.
If you want to steal that much from the US government start a “green” company or NGO.
I have all that and couldn’t remember what the bill was about, there was a note attached to it and it might have been about a joke or something, I saved it from that long ago period but threw the note away before I read it when I came across it this time.
If it had cheated me out of a $100 at the time, I probably would have gone to the person’s house and collected.
I’m torn on which one I think was the mastermind.
I wonder why they didn’t just go to a quick mart, buy something and ask for change.

I don’t believe the article said that it was mailed. The article said no one knew HOW they came to be in possession of it..
Thinking that anyone other than a very certified officer of the company to which the check was made could do anything with it ... successfully ... is two or three orders of magnitude stupider.
This reminds me of the time a bag of $50,000 chips were stolen and then some idiots tried to cash them in...
