Mamdani did not sprout out of a political vacuum. Over the past sixty years NYC has devolved into neo pagan, hedonistic decadence. Decent, rational people fled during this time and the residua have disavowed the customs and values that once were the core of a common reasonable consensus. Its no accident that New York has elected people like DeBlasio, Adams, Bragg , Cuomo ,Hochul and lettia James. Their ascendacy was also made possible by wealthy elites who financed them. Its amusing that these elites are now panicing over the culminating result of their absurd politics.

NY City is a welfare city. It produces almost nothing (yet somehow has a “GDP” larger than Netherlands - what a Keynesian joke). It exists purely on the skimmings of a few Wall Street firms, and on transfers from Federal Government.

This welfare mentality over several generations are what has produced Zohran Mamdani

Under Mamdani we will find NY City can only be ‘saved’ through MORE massive transfers from Federal Government and creation of debt.

I am convinced that under our present political and economic system - certainly Democrats, but also the GOP, will bail-out NY City when the time comes.

As I said, we’ve seen this movie before. It’s discouraging to think that we have to sit through yet another rerun.

They'll have to reshoot the movie --- Kurt looks too much like Santa Claus now.

New Yorker prejudice against Republicans will cost them dearly.

If you can make it through the first 100 pages, you’re on your way. It’s a great novel, though Rand often writes more than she needs to to get her point across. OTOH, she does a great job in illustrating the cause and effect of certain actions.

I’ve read it several times, and have discovered something new with each reading. The audio book is 62 hours long, and the narrator brought it to life.

As to the 3 movie trilogy, the first movie was great, while the second and third editions were disappointing.
