You can’t take our country — and you can’t take our game.— Justin Trudeau (@JustinTrudeau) February 21, 2025

The 4 Nations Face-Off international ice hockey tournament took place among heightened political tensions between Canada and the United States due to American president Donald Trump's call for annexing Canada and plan to impose tariffs on the country. Before the final, Trump posted on Truth Social stating he would be calling the United States team and that "[Canada] will someday, maybe soon, become our cherished, and very important, Fifty First State"

After Canada beat the United States in the final, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau tweeted "You can't take our country – and you can't take our game".

The top hockey players on American top NHL teams are mostly Canadian.

The top baseball players on the Toronto Blue Jays are Americans.

Hockey is Canada’s sport, and it is a good one.
Baseball is American, and it has a glorious history.

I think it is glorious that Canada can’t win a Cup.

The home plate umpires are rooting for the Blue Jays too, that's been VERY clear. WHAT A JOKE.

Swinging at balls and taking strikes seems to be a Dodger specialty as of late. C'MON BOYS !!!!!

Spectator sports should be fun. When you take this too seriously all the fun is squeezed out of it. Like when fans start beating each other up over it. Then it becomes like gang warfare. No fun there.

It ain’t over yet Jays fans, although I fancy their chances of winning one game at home as very good. But the Dodgers counter with Yamamoto (not the admiral) tomorrow night and he has been dominating. Dodgers have to rediscover how to hit. Other than Ohtani and to a lesser extent Freeman they have been horrible. Betts has been totally MIA. We shall see.

Was pulling for the Dodgers but last night’s Blue Jay’s hitting/pitching was great and I’ll give credit where credit is due...had to give in/up when the Braves didn’t make it..

And Yesavage… one helluva story. He started the season in A-ball and pitched lights out in the WS! Incredible!

“We’re feeling good! ‘93, I was in the building. We’re going to do it again on Friday!” one fan told CBC News at Dodger Stadium, screaming above the cheers of a mob of Toronto fans to be heard…

They don’t have Joe Carter but they do have Vlad Guerrero Jr.

And how many of the players are US citizens?

I would also add Blake Snell hasn’t helped out the Dodgers much either - last night two HRs on three pitches to start the game.

The Dodgers are making the most out of the Japanese talent pool. And conveniently for them, most Japanese players prefer West Coast teams.

I too was in the building that night. Who knows what will happen? Carter who has been following it all and pulling for the Jays said watching the games at home is a lot tougher than actually playing in them.

Yesavage gave up only one run on three hits and struck out 12 batters — more than any other rookie in World Series history.

Good case for him to be Series MVP… if the Jays win.

A nonstop flight from Los Angeles (LAX) to Tokyo (Haneda or Narita) typically takes:

✈️ 11 to 12 hours eastbound (LAX → Tokyo)
✈️ 9 to 10 hours westbound (Tokyo → LAX)

The difference is due to the jet stream, which provides a strong tailwind when flying east from Asia to the U.S. and a headwind in the opposite direction.

Yeah FINALLY the Dodgers are going to bring out one of their good pitchers..the last two days, OY, such horrendous HORRENDOUS pitching. For some reason the Dodgers are playing like Harris ran her campaign, like its owed to her, they have to go back and do what worked for them all season, what helped them sweep the Brewers, do that and they can win cant put everything on Ohtani and Freeman’s shoulders
