Looks like the parents may be in need of a 'disappearer'.

This seems kinda silly to me.
A 16-year-old cannot be allowed to house sit by himself?
How far was he from home? The article does not say.
It would have been better to leave the boy at the house. $500,000 bond on the parents seems rather excessive.

run along little boy, you’re free!

Not sure the legality of giving two pistols to a 16 year old in Florida. In NYS it's a no no.

They were given by the parents.
Florida law has an exception for possession of unloaded firearms in the home or hunting or target practice or transporting a firearm to and from those events, for 16-year-old people.
As the 16-year-old was on his way home, it might fall under the transporting law...

As the 16-year-old was on his way home, it might fall under the transporting law...LOL, yes he was, after being abandoned by his parents, which is a whole other conversation.

Sounds like something I would do.

The parents were nutjobs but that $500k bail is way excessive. It’s not like they left the kid in extreme danger. After all they did leave him with “a bag of guns” lol.

When I was a kid my parents moved a lot. But I always found them.
