At least someone is getting off their butts and voicing opposition! Everyone was going to just let MS force them to buy a whole new computer. If their product requires a whole new computer to use it then THEY should have to pay for it. In no way should a product cause an ADDITIONAL financial hardship for their customers.

Bump that...What a crappy greedy company MS is. And even if you have the money, look at all the endless hoops and hassles their customers are now forced to endure to convert their computers...From my perspective, this is total madness.

Hopefully one day this POS company goes belly up bankrupt.

Those sentiments are exactly the same as mine. I have never seen a product completely manipulate society like this. It is insane that people put up with it.

It is like a radio station saying you have to buy a whole new radio to get their channel. Or better yet a whole new car to fit that new radio to get their channel.

Know what I think? I think that if they quit supporting a version completely as “end of life” that version should now be deemed as “abandonware” and can be used or supported by anyone else without a license because it has been abandoned. Win XP and Win 7 would be in such a class...

Support it, or be forced to give it away so someone else can support it.

Good analogies. And I agree, what the "Consumers" put up with nowadays is just over the top. Having a basic home computer should not include endless aggravation or expense. It's just bizarre how they treat their so-called customers.

“US users can get free updates by uploading profiles to Microsoft’s backup service...”

What does this mean?
