My first thought was exactly the same. We really do think alike around here.
The most effective phrase tested was, “Rosie O’Donnell is right behind you, and she looks like she’s horny.” Equally effective was a similar phrase, but with a supermodel standing at the finish line. Stick - Carrot.
When I used to run track, especially the 440, I would tell myself “lift up your knees.”
Towards the end of the 440, your legs feel like lead.
Reading the article I eventually lost interest in what these mysterious word are.
Our coach used to say when the runner hit the last quarter of the 440...”now watch the piano get on his back”
Some thoughts and memories worked better than others, just as the words that motivated the kids in the stud varied by child... but thoughts of my favorite dogs being abused or mistreated were generally among the most common ways to drive me to the peaks of enraged insanity. Once I even ran off course because I was so distracted, lol. Missed the turn completely, even with flags and course officials standing there.
“Snakes make you run into trees......”
Lol and into each other in midair... Seen it...
What a Moran!!!
“The study was led by Dr. Jason Moran”
“Arriba arriba! Andale, andale!”
