This is an interesting article. Chemistry was the new thing to solve all problems. It takes a lot of energy to make food. The reason it was used for uboats by germany was it didn’t turn rancid which has value in certain situation.

just like ethanol and ev are appropriate for certain situations. But big govt and big business see “one size fits all.”

I think the lifespan was much shorter but the 70%, you appear to be correct on.

Might be other factors to the statistic than butter. They all ate carrots also.
