Yep. There are survivors after Elijah. No reason they shouldn’t know about soap and crop rotation...
This is amazing.
You're on!
Likely, but not certain.
Alrighty then! Let’s get started.
But I mean it, not a minute more.
Exactly.
James 4:13-14 Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”— yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.
Psalm 103:15-19 As for man, his days are like grass; he flourishes like a flower of the field; for the wind passes over it, and it is gone, and its place knows it no more. But the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him, and his righteousness to children's children, to those who keep his covenant and remember to do his commandments. The Lord has established his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom rules over all.
Eternity is a LONG time with permanent placement on where you decide to go.
“You maniacs! You blew it up! Ah, darn you! Goshdarn you all to heck!”
Ned Heston
just watch the movie, man. It’s all there.
Agreed, but we can help the survivors recover.
I wish you luck.
Thank you.
Why not just exercise some courtesy and provide the information?
I'm not a Hari Seldon, and this isn't an Encyclopedia Galactica.
A very pale shadow, perhaps. Very pale.
Thanks for this ping.
What books MUST be included?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
How about the Foxfire books? There are 12 in the series. I have a couple of them I found at a thrift store years ago. Hope to get the rest some day.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foxfire_(magazine)#Books
The Foxfire books are a series of copyrighted anthologies of articles originally written for Foxfire magazine, along with additional content not suitable for the magazine format. Though first conceived primarily as a sociological work, recounting oral traditions, the books, particularly the early ones, were a commercial success as instructional works.
Members of the 1970s back-to-the-land movement used the books as a basis to return to lives of simplicity. The first book was published in 1972 as The Foxfire Book. This was followed by an additional 11 books, titled in sequence Foxfire 2 through Foxfire 12.
Yes, but a much lower tech version. The target audience doesn't have the ability to decode a disc like that. They'll read a readable version of Sagan's Murmurs of Earth.
There will be pointers to the singular Microsoft Silica archive and the few Long Now Foundation's Rosetta Project archives.
I have similar thoughts.
There is evidence of catastrophic solar eruptions in the ice cores of Greenland and Antarctica. Radioactive isotopes created by nova events. However, the half life of those isotopes indicates that they came from our star, the sun.
One physicist calculated that the radiation burst was twice the lethal dose for a human. Half of the mega fauna became extinct over three continents. Mammoths, et al, had survived millions of years through multiple ice ages, super volcanoes, etc.
Our ancestors in caves survived
I notice a convergence of prophecies from the Bible and predictions of what a micro nova would create. For example, in a micro nova the sun would blow off its outer shell. This material would condense into impactors from tiny to mountain size. Hence, “one third of the stars fell from the sky” and “a great mountain fell into the sea”.
Is it possible that the visions and prophecies warn that each cycle is destruction is worse?
Rather than pyramids, I suggest a printing press to create readable copies of important books on clay tablets. Fired into ceramic. Distributed libraries.
Don’t forget seeds. Thousands of years of selecting the varieties best for our use. Genetics is information.
That's why the goal is a thousand or so widely scattered archives, some will be in front of city libraries, some in Appalachian hollers, some on the back 40, some in deep woods, some in disused salt mines, some....
Excellent suggestion! We’ll need to get the copyright owner’s permission for a limited run of a thousand or so. Hopefully they’ll waive charges, or at least minimize them.
The majority will be public domain works.
Alternatively paint your information on a cave wall in France
Huh?
I think it’s a cool idea!
Pro Tip: Do NOT include any recordings
