I guess if you’re paid to write a column every week and you’re out of ideas you ask captain obvious what he’d write. Actually the article might have improved a notch or two if the title had been something like “Islam Is Totally Incompatible With Western Civilization”

Kind of, it is.

But moreso, American values, our constitution and our very nation, itself, is anti-Islam. (Or, more accurately, “incompatible with Islam”)

Our sense of personal freedom and personal responsibility does not comport with Islam.

“Submit” is not at all what we do. Can Muslims thrive within the structures we, as a nation, revere?

Yes, absolutely.

But the firm focused belief in the sword as the way of conquest and to bring all infidels to submit to Islam?

There is a gaping chasm right there between our belief systems that is irreconcilable.

Prior to the 1970s Islam was evolving into something sane and compatible with civilization. You can see the proof in that on the Internet of young women dressed in somewhat modest but definitely 1970s fashion going to university throughout the Islamic World exception being Saudi Arabia. There are pictures of this for Tehran and even Kabul. Then the Carter Administration allowed fundamentalist 12er Shia Islam a victory in Iran. Not to be outdone this invigorated fundamentalist Sunni Islam. It was all then encouraged even more by Western (and US!) cowardice. Cowardice that still displays itself in the UK, the US and other European countries. Cowardice due to an ignorant Marxist-sourced self-loathing because of past colonialism.
