The world’s richest man and one of the world’s greatest minds, Elon Musk, turned on Starlink for Iranians after the brutal Islamic regime cut off internet service. This comes following the waves of Israeli attacks on the Islamic regime.

Starlink gives internet service to people where internet is hard to get, like in remote areas or people suffering from a natural disaster or war.

See post 35—the cell phone may well be the receiver.

He has been working for a way for smart phones to connect directly with Starlink

Yes, on the phone he is supposedly designing. That would be cool.
However, it takes special hardware in the phone to communicate with sats.
I don't think there's any way current phones could do that.

I think Trump has been a good influence on Musk.

They both are wealthy, but personalities are not close.

Smuggled in?

With Israel and Trump are in control of the hardware, smuggling will not be an issue.

The huge transport aircraft that Trump is moving to Europe will solve the logistics.

Then they can set up local networks feeding off the terminal. He has several options. He manufactures the terminals in his own company.

He is capable of adding cell phones to the system. He has partnered with a phone carrier.

Musk partnered with a cell phone provider in Western VA after the flooding connected with the Hurricane, and it worked. They know how to do it.

They have already done it (on small scale).

How does he make sure that the regime itself is not using starlink?

OK, I have been proven wrong. Since cell tech and sat tech are very different I could see no way for that to work. So Musk must have been putting cell tech in his sats for his future phones. Something I hadn't considered.

This is great news for areas that get hit by a disaster going forward.

Here's my apology to all.

“How does he make sure that the regime itself is not using starlink?”

Maybe the whole plan is to hope they will.....knowing Elon, he can monitor all the traffic and track it back to the origination point.

Starlink requires special hardware for internet. How many have that in Iran?

I'm sure Elon/Starlink can tell us how many working ground stations they have in Iran within a day or so.

They should be dropping AK47’s and ammo so the people can get rid of the mullas.

I think there was some red tape that had to be waved to do it.

Best virus would be one that flashes “Kill a Basiji, Kill a Basiji” on every webpage.

Starlink direct to cell works with any 4/5G phone. Starlink has tested it with data, text and voice it all works they could turn on that access it would allow for limited as in 17Mbps per 20km cell. You could one way simulcast news or just make wiki or something similar available to anyone who connects the the APN on the Starlink bird. D2C would be swamped with mass data it’s not designed for that but limited data to an oppressed people is well inside it’s wheel house.

Then again if the Russians can get smuggled Starlink dishy’s you can bet Iranians can too. The turn on signals are all on Starlink end the smuggled dishy only.need to power up and the network if it was set to would connect each and every one in its footprint.
