The mass demonstrations and violence stoped.

Not by those of us who lived through it; even though we were little kids!

For some weird reason, that I still don't understand, we were asked to bring in read newspapers, for "NEWSPAPER DRIVES", when I was in first & second grades.

That’s a perfect description of the Liberal Internationalism foreign policy that had roots in Teddy Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson and then achieved dominance with WW2 and the Cold War.

Anything other than America playing global policeman is “extreme isolationism”, which of course would have the apparently unified evildoer regimes of the world dictating terms to a craven USA.

I know our neocon pals love this stuff. The genius Dubya and his merry band of nation builders and democracy exporters said it would culminate in The End of History. War is good.

Don’t need to read no history books.

I resided most of my life here in the heartland.

I entered college in 1969 and won the lottery in December of that year which was the only lottery I ever had a ticket in albeit an involuntary one.

Took a college tour so to speak and wandered my way through three colleges in four years before getting my BA in May of 1973.

Didn’t do no protests because I had no skin in the game as my lottery number assured me I’d never be forced to involuntarily put on a uniform.

There were protests on the three campuses that I spent time on, but nothing violent and there really were no stinkin’ hippies who would never get a degree organizing SDS and doing sit ins and tagging whatever they could find.

The several protests and hundreds if not thousands of protesters that I saw first hand were mostly like me, non-ideological and apolitical, trying to get an education and find a career path.

And strangely although I claimed to be apolitical, I may have taken enough political science classes to have a minor in political science.

I don’t remember many if any radicals spouting off in those political science courses and there was plenty of freedom to voice opinions in those and most of the classes that I was enrolled in.

But I had equal contempt for both political parties as I still do today, and though I have played the good soldier and always voted, I’m proud to say that I have never been affiliated with either stinkin’ wing of the uniparty.

I have never bought much into ideology although I have encountered a lot of ideologues on Free Republic whose ideological zealotry has been tamped down by Trump who is a lot of things but an ideologue is not one of them.

From afar I always thought the radical leaders like Tom Hayden and the others with vaguer name recognition were not really ideologues but just losers who were sore they never got elected to student council like the clean cut yuppies and they were just taking an opportunity to get some shine.

Not only are you almost illiterate ( your English prose is ghastly; especially since you claim to have actually graduated from a college, with a degree! ) and have lived in a bubble of exquisite lack of factual knowledge AND are proud of it!

Tom Hayden, one of THE least of the lot and the ONLY non-RED DIAPER BABY...and his is the ONLY name that you are able to conjure up?

Do you even know what a RED DIAPER BABY was/is?

And you're "proud" of the fact that you are so very uneducated? WHY?

I got a private message saying a similar thing, that age has nothing to do with it. I will pass your message along to her.

The conversation came up because my wife was talking about how in conversation with older folks (80 years and older), they would almost always agree with her on the individual issues (gay marriage, homeless encampments, gun rights, illegals, etc.). But, they had always voted for Democrats because, well, they were Democrats.

One would indeed be dictating terms to a craven USA. So you leave the Barbary pirates alone, and later Germany, or the Soviets to expand unhindered, and militant Islam, and China, with control of the trade routes, and countries we depend upon.

By the same mentality, you eliminate police, the FBI, etc. (though not sanctioning all that such has done).

After all, the world and all the US population will behave themselves like the self-sufficient libertarian isolationist (at war with another), or the elite liberal, as both are have with the same delusion.

I am all for smaller government, and for being God and self-governed (and reliant), but I know the insofar as men and nations are not thus controlled from within by yielding to God and Godly conscience, they must be controlled from without.

The problems arise insofar as government is not controlled thusly from within, and thus persecutes those who are.

To paraphrase Travis Bickle, "Are you posting to me?"

If you are, your post is confusing.

You use the second person plural of you as a pronoun of address in which you affirm the pronoun of address as being correct, then you go on to disparage Ditto and myself with incorrect grammar.

Normally I do not point out bad grammar, but in a later post which is singularly addressed to me you question my skill with the English language.

EVERYONE on FR knows a plural subject, in this case two proper nouns conjoined by a coordinating conjunction not a correlative one, require using the third person plural conjugation of the verb not the singular verb form that you used.

Grammar aside in your later post to me, you reveal yourself as mean-spirited and unhinged, a person who uses his keyboard as weaponry to deal with his insecurities.

That conclusion is not solely based on your post to me.

I looked at your past commentary and I did not have to go back very far to see ad hominem attacks repeated again and again.

But then again my psychological assessment might be wrong as I am not a licensed psychologist, I just play one on the world wide web.

Disagree with me all you want, I'm an adult and can accept it.

Personally attack me and you will get back as good as you gave.

That’s one of the dumbest exercises in bad logic I’ve seen. Maybe you should study up on logical fallacies instead of specializing in them.

Don’t need to read no history books.

I can understand. History books don’t have pictures on every page and have lots of big words.

BTW, I was in college in the 60s too. Knew lots of guys who didn’t want to get drafted, and also knew some who were filthy commies who thought they were the vanguard of the revolution. Had some try to block me from class one day. That was not a good day for them.

I fully admit that "doesn't" was incorrect; however, it was done by autocorrect ( perhaps I had goofed in spelling "DON'T" ) which I didn't cat at the time.

OTOH..."Don't need to read no history books", as well as the many other uneducated, grammatically incorrect English usage, that you wrote in your post #38, unlike what your harrangue against me, that I am replying to, was written in a totally different manners.

Only you know WHY you chose to cosplay; or perhaps, one of your multiple personalities took over ( two can play at being a pyschiatrist; tit for tat! ), deserved exactly the response I handed out to you.

Akin to the Slippery Slope" fallacy, though that depends upon warrant in its use. I was reacting to what I perceive to be the censure of America playing global policeman as meaning no foreign wars, no meaningful deterrent of foes, thus letting the Chicoms control Taiwan, the S. China sea, for starters, plus militant Muslims threatening the existence of Israel, N. Korea likewise the South, and Putin.

Vietnam, Iraq, and more are examples against military involvement.
