Windows is so horrible. Spemd more time fixing junk that happens while using it than i do not fixing it seems. Constsntly getting bsod’s and endless reboots, thrn having to ta,e quick snapshots to see what thd error code number is because it goes by so fast cant read it fast enough. Then havd to go 9nline and hope agaisnt hope that i can find a solition?

I used to,use windows 10 without any problems- then about a year or so ago, the problems began, tons of bsod’s. Brand new computer ax of last dec too. Very powerful. Still cant run either 10 or 11 smoothly.

I finzlly got 10,to where it wouldnt bsod (not sure even how,i did so) and not allowing it to go online now jusy so i can uxe it for a few programs thst i have thay wont run on windows 7 anymore unfortunstely. Thr new programs are photo manipulator, apps that rely on ai to “intelligently mask” certsin areax for retouching which is a huge help for photo editing.

Im jusymwaiting for,ms to learn that i dont allow it to connecf to internet, and thrnnhave them force a connection to update lol.

It wasn't the RAM, it was the total hard drive space needed.

Partitioning the hard drive appears to work.

AH, then yep, its an easy matter of partitioning the drive to jusy small enough to contain windows 10 or 11. Thanks for the tip. (Note, can a,ways rspartition if need a little more room for a new program or app too).

Thr only issue though is the security issue, so might as sell keep say jusy 10 on since the 11 would nevdr be able to update for new security patches.

I triple boot linux, 10 and 11- but seriously considering a move to running windows onky from a vm but onky IF i cnz run my photo programs and painting programs from the vm well enough. With a vm i can make the virtusl drive as small as needed to prevent updates too.

Still 7 for me, too. It does all I want, and that’s all I need.

I loved 7 too, but my windows programs all updsted to the poijnt that they no longer would run on 7, and in order to get the new festures, which were major upgrades with massive improvements, i had to go with 10. I would have loved to keep 7 htough.

Speaking of privacy — which people don’t seem to care much about — I recently shopped around for a better printer. HP offers subscription ink, and the printer has to be connected to use the “service.” Then if you quit the service and try to buy ink elsewhere, the printer stops working.
I asked myself why on earth anyone wants a printer connected to wireless. Potentially remotely accessible to anyone. Everything you print. It wouldn’t be difficult to arrange that.
Went with another brand, that works without wireless, and even that one wanted an initial connection.
Not looking forward to buying a new fridge or car.
Don’t get me started on the apps my phone won’t let me uninstall.

I’m finding it hard to care. I’ve been using Microsoft OS machines since MSDOS replaced CP/M. While a few of their new versions were slow, memory hogs, I’ve had few issues with them. For 35 years I ran a computer lab with 23 PCs running the latest version of Windows. I built all of the computers with generic parts and still do that with my own PCs since I retired in 2015. I have run several versions of Linux starting with Red Hat some time around the turn of the century. I’ve also had various Mac OS machines and devices since the mid 90s.

All in all, I’ve got few complaints and really don’t mind the free updates. I don’t understand the abject fear of Windows updates. Every other OS I run has regular updates and they don’t scare me either. My iPhone and iPad updates have caused me more troubles than Microsoft’s ever have.

If you want them to be, you have to put a bag over their head.

They can take my W10 LTSC IoT when they can pry it from my cold, dead hands.
