You don’t have Congress massively overspend expecting to somehow claw it back. The only leverage they have to cut spending is now, to get Trump’s initiatives funded.

How about a piece that retains the No Tax on Social Security? Let the Democrats specifically vote against that one.

Why do you assume they'd shy away from that? They very openly voted that tax into existence, with the GOP unanimously opposed.

I will joyfully contribute to primary any Senator who refuses to vote for a version of this bill before July 4th.

Say it again:

I will joyfully contribute to primary any Senator who refuses to vote for a version of this bill before July 4th.

RE: Reconciliation can be used once per year for each of a spending bill, a revenue, bill, and a debt limit bill. Those subjects can be combined into one bill but it will use up each category.

Who makes these rules? Why can’t it be changed?

Not going to happen that way. Wake up, smell the roses. It hasn’t happened because the Congress critters are on lobbyist & donors payrolls.

As we are able to pass Trump priorities his leverage increases. NGO are defunded, the money to buy politicians dries up, corrupt players are exposed and removed, the organs the left has as slush funds are closed down.
As this process plays out the cuts in spending will have much better opportunities to be enacted.

Donald Trump has been and continues to be committed to a balanced budget as well as paying down the debt. In his first term McCain and others successfully obstructed much of his reductions although his actions revitalized the economy and started the process, the left’s covid attack shut him down.

Trump is setting in motion all of the things that will make the balanced budget & retiring of the debt a reality. The Fed is working against him but they will eventually fold and hopefully be audited. The re-shoring of manufacturing, $10 trillion so far in investment in the US economy, tariffs, cuts in regulations and myriad other actions will result in a significant increase in tax revenues as they did in his first term. That coupled with the focus on streamlining and decreasing the size of government will move the US towards fiscal health. But it all starts with the BBB.

The reconciliation process was created by the Congressional Budget Act of 1974 and was first used in 1980.

It's a special Senate rule. Reconciliation begins in the Senate because the Senate has the filibuster (cloture vote). It was a means to address emergency spending or debt ceiling limits in a way that prevents the minority party from obstructing it and putting the nation's debt obligations at risk.

In a statement, Secretary of State Marco Rubio indicated that the administration was officially moving to sunset USAID and that foreign aid would now officially be administered by the State Department.

"Thanks to President Trump, this misguided and fiscally irresponsible era is now over," Rubio said in his statement. "We are reorienting our foreign assistance programs to align directly with what is best for the United States and our citizens."

USAID is essentially shut down. Other agencies are merged and moved with direct oversight by Trump cabinet apointees. Don't dance to the lying drumbeats of the fake news media.

I guess if the Republicans don’t get smart the Nation will fail.
Smart is passing the bill and building on it to get more spending cuts, codifying DOGE and EO. Stupid is allowing the supposed fiscal hawks, who are actually purposely torpedoing the bill on the insistence of their donors, to snow you. Stupid is not allowing Trump to advance the agenda that the American people voted on, not trusting him to move the ball down the court past all the landmines and booby traps.

Not only do they ignore history and current economic principles, the scorers are not non-partisan as advertised.
“Of the 32 staff members in the division, 26 of them, or 84%, have “clearly” verified liberal partisan biases, being either a Democrat donor, a registered Democrat, or a Democratic primary voter, the group said in a memo outlining its findings, which come ahead of potential scrutiny of President Donald Trump’s budget request. “

There will not be a nation to save if they do not pass this bill. They can come back and do cuts...but, I think they are lying about this. You know they did not cut the DOGE recommendations of pure waste and fraud right?

The Stupid Partydoes not know how to convey a message, nor confront a lie. Flip charts and crayons are not an effective form of communication. These geriatrics never heard of computers, much Less PowerPoint presentations on 10 foot projection screens. It’s pathetic seeing Ted Cruz’ assistance wrestling with cardboard and an easel.
