Hundreds of Starbucks baristas have walked out of stores in protest of a new dress code policy, which the union, Starbucks Workers United, claims was implemented without proper bargaining.
Yes FReepers you read that correctly...A DRESS CODE.

You sure come up with some wild reasoning.
That's exactly the kind of thing that needs to stop. It's disabling to the individual who lives in their own reality, especially when it's reinforced by others.
You were presenting a united front to prisoners so they wouldn't see guards as individuals they could get an edge on.
These employees are slinging coffee and coffee cakes.
You are correct. The only reason people like Starbucks is for the sugar high. Their coffee is really crap with a lot of flavoring. It is crap.
A good cup of coffee is Luzianne dark roast or Community dark roast. That is what I grew up drinking in South Louisiana. No chicory please that they did offer it. They were both strong and dark and high caffeine. They were coffee. As a youth I well remember going to the the school bus stop in front of my neighbors house. I would go early so I could drink coffee with them and the daughter who did speak English (I liked her she was pretty) her dad and mom spoke English poorly.
It was a time of innocence and youth. Nothing happened. They were like family. I miss those times of innocence dearly.
Interacting with employees in costumes in everyday situations is not healthy.
It's a coffee shop, not Disneyland.
Let's see the CEO and the board wear nothing but the black Starbucks shirt, the green Starbucks apron, and the black Starbucks baseball cap for EVERY moment they're on the clock - every board meeting, every press conference, every flyer, every web photo. Because if it's so important for those who are "customer facing", it must surely be important for them also.
That’s the chain were the employees were told to start racism discussions with the customers. Told to write notes with Sharpees on the cups like “I want to talk about white racism with you” and “Let’s talk about unconscious racism” in their Race Together mission in 2015.
Went over like a porcupine coming to a helium balloon display at a festival.
Weird, fast food and restaurant uniforms have been standard fare for generations, many if not most of us have worn uniforms at some time if not now.
Even plumbers and lifeguards wear uniforms.
My aunt graduated from nursing school in 1931 and was in the Army Nurse Corps during WW II. She died in 1992 and was not at all happy with the nurses’ attire she saw before she died.
Reason number XXXXXXXX that we do not partake of StarButts.
In almost every city and town, there are small and sole proprietor coffee shops.
When driving across the fruited plain, they are easy to find.
I just got out of the hospital and could not tell who was who, or what their role was, from level of nurse to house cleaning or nutrition, it was just people in various dress that could be connected to working in a hospital but with no real identity or category.
Just because we did it, doesn't mean that should continue. We used to smoke in buildings too. Starbucks can start that back up as cigarettes go very well with coffee.
fast food and restaurant uniforms have been standard fare for generations
That was a product of mass-marketing, and only for gaudy chain restaurants. Regular restaurants, and especially coffee shops, never had uniforms.
McDonald's mascot is a clown and some of the McDonald's employee uniforms looked similar to his costume.
Even plumbers and lifeguards wear uniforms. Very few plumbers. That's for television commercials.
And as for lifeguards - they absolutely need to be identified as someone who can save lives and is also in a position of authority to get more help if needed. Starbuck's employees are making coffee and dispensing cakes.
So which is it, hundreds, or thousands?
Yes, that same korporate board who came up with that racist, socialist, and insane idea is now telling staff they should wear uniforms.
It's one of those companies that the employees know, "don't trust anything that comes out of korporate".
You don’t seem to know what you are talking, unable to recognize who the waitress is, only gaudy chains using work clothing, no distinguishing clothing on waitress and busboys and cooks, very few plumbers using uniforms, things you don;t seem to know about..
As someone who was a service plumber and plumbing business owner I know that calling a plumber from a yellow page ad would get you a man in a labelled truck and company clothing.
That sounds like a slightly modified metaphor Dan Rather would have said after a story. Lol!
Kinda communist thinking there.
If you need your waitress to wear a uniform to recognize her, she’s not doing her job, or you’re in a restaurant that doesn’t have table service.
RE: Many people wear uniforms on the job. And we look around in a store to see the ones wearing them so they can direct us to a section.
Obama: I’ve been mistaken for a waiter
By Aaron Short
New York Post
December 17, 2014.
Before they were the First Family, President Obama and Michelle Obama had trouble hailing cabs in Chicago and were mistaken for the help.
“There’s no black male my age, who’s a professional, who hasn’t come out of a restaurant and is waiting for their car and somebody didn’t hand them their car keys,” President Obama told People magazine in an interview published online Wednesday.
Michelle Obama said that people at black tie dinners would ask her husband “to get coffee” and a store clerk asked her to retrieve something from a shelf during a widely-publicized trip to Target just a couple of years ago.
“Because she didn’t see me as the first lady, she saw me as someone who could help her,” she said.
No it isn’t, yours is, Starbucks is doing business and trying to be more traditional, the commies want to impose their rules on them.
If I'm being served food products from someone who is slovenly, and dressed like a pig, I won't be going to that place at all. If they can't take pride in their job, and wear the clothing the company pays them to wear to present a neat appearance to the public, then they don't belong working there.
