Nobody said they had to change their maps. They don’t get to dictate how we label ours.

It’s that same Swamp and Deep State you’ve been voting for making things difficult..

You have the soul of a leftist.

You demand complete agreement or the person is an enemy.

hypocrite, the left has been removing statues and removing products for years now for all kinds of reasons. You didn’t have a problem with it then.

WHEN didn't I have a problem with that?

How do you know I didn't have a problem with that?

Or that I didn't complain about that?

How about you stop putting words in my mouth.

Mexico has treated the US like crap for a long time and I could care less if they're offended by this name change.

When I lived in the southwest I heard all the time about how Mexicans were going to out-breed Americans and 'take back' Azatlan, the Mexican name for the land that is now California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, and Oklahoma. That was a lot more offensive than calling an area of ocean bordered by the US at least as much as Mexico the Gulf of America. Are they offended by the name Central America, or South America?

At one time Spain controlled all the land around the Gulf from Cuba to South America. I think it should be called “The Gulf of Spain.” Golfo de Espana

Likely because he chooses not to play your little game but rather calls you out for what you appear to be.

Yes, I heard it too.

But I don't want that.

So I want to make it easy for them to back down and return home.

And it's easier for a man to back down when you treat him with respect. When you allow him to save face.

But if you add insult to injury, you encourage him to dig in his heels and resist.

A rational discussion is "a little game"?

You prefer an exchange of insults?

Conservatives discuss politely. Leftists trade insults.

I treat everyone with respect, irrespective of societal stature or position. Sometimes I don’t get it back, because people can just be that way. Unfortunately, treating people well doesn’t mean they won’t knife you in the back if and when they can.

I don’t like name calling, as you don’t, and I also agree that backing people into a corner is not a good strategy when you want to keep peace with them. That said, I’m not sure we can do anything at this point to stop those Mexicans who hate us from continuing to hate us.

The name change was necessary because Biden signed legislation that forever banned drilling and oil exploitation in the Gulf of Mexico. Remember, the press celebrated that quite loudly after the election?

Welp, if it’s the Gulf of America, that law doesn’t apply.

Stolen election of 2020 has consequences

FAFO has been delayed for at least 4 years.

I've often heard that argument. I don't believe it.

If you sign a contract, then change your name, can you say, "This contract applies to Jim Smith, but I'm now Frank Jones, so this contact doesn't applies to me."

Of course not. The law doesn't work like that.

It works just as well as a lyric in Battle of New Orleans.

They ran so fast that the hounds couldn’t catch ‘em
All the way down the Mississippi to the Gulf of America

What’s their problem?

It does when it’s a named list, from what I’ve seen. Look back at the named gun bans - they first banned guns by name, then when the models’ names were changed, the court system said that “nope, different name, doesn’t apply.” That’s why more recent ban lists include names ‘and substantially similar models’.

It seems the issue there was that different gun names were assumed to refer to different gun types. And that gun manufacturers tried to get around the law by changing the gun's name, but not the fundamental type.

But the Gulf is the same body of water, whatever its old or new names. So a name change would not get around the law.

Among other things He did to invalidate Biden era drilling bans. If you think Trump is doing something shallow and goofy it means you don’t know why he is doing it.

I offer rational, practical reasons for why this is a bad idea — and you respond with nothing

You are not wrong.

But with Ukraine President zelinski it was justified

I don’t have the reference here, but several lawyers are on record as stating that for this legislation it does.
