I’ve been watching Swamp People: Serpent Invasion every season. They hunt for pythons in Florida every year in between alligator season in Louisiana. Over the past two seasons they’ve been focusing on trying to capture female pythons to help reduce the growth of the snake population there. They’ve captured many huge females who have had at least 75 eggs inside them.
“That’s why they make pellet guns.”
And fire extinguishers.
When I lived on the Yucatan, it was a weekend thing to go out to the jungle to catch them and then barbeque them.
Tastes like the proverbial chicken. Unlike the huge water monitors in SE Asia, which taste kinda swampy.
In Latin America they are called tree chicken, not bad eating in a tamale or stew. It’s similar to dark meat chicken. Yes the eggs are edible too. Andrew Zimmern can confirm that.
Wall of Voodoo has a Reciepe!
No.
You want to eradicate them.
They’re an invasive species. Chasing them into another yard won’t solve the problem. When they hatch and the neighborhood is overrun with them, they’ll be back in spades.
Aren’t iguanas so ugly they’re cute?
They are. Especially sea turtle eggs.
Iguana is edible too. Send in the Filipinos. They will get them all.
