My brother in law said lotto winners always went broke. I told him it was because they gave money to their relatives and I wouldn’t make that mistake.
Most lotto winners go broke because they don’t know how to manage money.
It used to be that nearly everyone thought about managing money. You had to do so to survive.
It is easier now to become independently wealthy, than at any time in history. We are in a golden age. All you need to do is work, save, and invest. Just spend 15% less than you make, after taxes. For most people, this would not require any hardship.
Eat out less. Buy used cars, maintain them, and keep them a couple of years longer. Recreate with a canoe instead of a 30 foot motor boat.
To our ancestors, this would have been easy-peasy.
