Yeah, I caught that crap too.
8 USC 1324 addresses handling illegal aliens in the US. It looks to be written to allow going after the political bodies as well as individual, as in a committee that presents an illegal proposal to grant awards to illegal aliens subject to conspiracy. It covers the recent judges arrests although no one has addressed this charge in the public.
Ironically, the Democrats fought tooth and nail to prevent states like Texas from doing any border enforcement based on the doctrine of federal supremacy.
Now they suddenly believe in states’ rights.
Money drives a lot of local pols, not the Constitution or concepts of right and wrong (in this case on immigration).
Many local governments are in a nebulous area. It will be interesting to see which ones clarify that they want the money.
Starting here in GA, does Athens (home of the #2 example) want the money.
What will Dems sneak into the fine print of new congressional action and “snooker” the Republicans?
Many times Republicans are trusting and don’t read the fine print.
The federal government can’t legally just stop or withhold all funding to a state.
