Elon has a tattoo
That’s pretty hilarious.
She probably thought it meant “harmony” or some such thing.
Apologies; my 60year old memory shuffle did me in. I meant to say Zuckerberg has a tattoo
if i saw my name as a tramp stamp on my grandma, i’d be so embarrassed that i would change my name.
What are the pros and cons of allowing tattoos in the workplace?
Every business has its own company culture, so evaluate the potential pros and cons of hiring professionals with tattoos before you decide.
Pros
•Encourages individuality
•May boost employee morale
•Projects a modern, open-minded company image
•Opens up your hiring pool, potentially helping you find more qualified candidates
•Shows employees that you value skills and credentials more than appearance
Cons
•Some stigma still exists when it comes to professionals with tattoos
•Tattooed workers may face discrimination from colleagues and clients
So again, we seem to be back to a generational aspect with regard to tattoos. I know many people who don't have tattoos for whatever reason, as I am a member of a church that is multi-generational and work at my spouse's advisory firm in a north central FL city that is definitely MAGA red. What is significant is that these same people welcome, witness to, fellowship and do business with many who have tattoos. Some of the wealthiest folks that we do business with (lots of old horse and farm money here) have tattoos.
Now, does that change what the results of the question asked on the Perplexity AI search engine that you posted the link to? No, the AI summed up the results of different studies (a few of the studies are a bit dated) and your statement has validity based on that. After exploring a few of the studies that the AI relied on, one only used Caucasian women, another examined only women as well, while another (more recent) noted that evolving societal norms have negated some of these results. The Caucasian woman study noted something I thought significant to this discussion
"“I don’t like it when we blame job applicants, though. They just happen to have body art and are perceived in a certain way. Really, we need to start focusing on the hiring managers and what they fixate on,” Henle said. “We might have to do some training with hiring managers and help them become aware of their biases. And not just body art, piercings or attire; it’s really appearance-based bias. “We need to give them techniques to overcome their biases and make sure they’re making sound hiring decisions based on qualifications and skills. If you throw all these people out, you could be missing out on a really great employee.”
Of course, I don't think that not hiring someone with a completely tattooed face who is applying for a highly client/customer-visible job is based on "appearance-based biases" but on an obvious sound business decision, but not hiring that same person (if the best qualified applicant) to sit in a cubicle and code is an obvious unsound business decision.
That’s what I noticed. Hubs should be standing by her.
Should be is a huge concept
Yet it means nothing
my MIL adored me too, when she wanted to come live with me!!!
but before that, not so much.
She never came to live with us. She could have if she had been kind but I noped out of that!!
I totally get that.
I forgot to mention that my in-laws didn’t like any of the people their children chose to marry. I learned from an aunt that had married into the family that it was the same way with her and anyone who married into the family. They called themselves “outlaws” instead of in-laws. I often wished we were close enough in location that we could spend more time together with that aunt. She was awesome, and their kids (my husband’s cousins) were/are awesome.
Sometimes people just want to be mean to other people. Sometimes they think they’re better than others. It was a little bit of each of these with my husband’s parents and me. They really wanted him to marry someone of social “stature” and they clearly don’t know their son. He is the best of the best. Yes, he has his faults, but they are very minor.
Now that MIL is widowed, she has become more pleasant to me. I finally wore her down with being sweet despite the way she and her husband treated me (and our kids) before.
Part of me wonders if it had been my FIL who didn’t like me, but he seemed very kind when he first met me. It wasn’t until we got married that they became difficult. It seemed like I couldn’t do anything right in their eyes. They gave us unsolicited advice all the time.
As I mentioned earlier, part of it was the cultural differences between the northeast and the south. They were a little bit uppity, and I’m just…well, I’m just not that way. My tagline might explain that a little bit.
Hey,,,like I said, some men just don’t give a f__k, if they can get laid...
They arent rolls royces, they are beat up corollas
Or, just consider...
Bumper stickers on any car is not a good look
If it were all cars would be sold with lots of them
