Sen. Chris Van Hollen, D-Md., was denied a visit with a Salvadoran migrant and accused MS-13 member who was deported to El Salvador, after flying to the country on Wednesday morning.
Van Hollen intended to visit Kilmar Abrego Garcia, 29, who was deported to the El Salvadoran mega prison "Terrorism Confinement Center" (CECOT) for being an alleged MS-13 gang member, though his attorneys maintain he does not have any gang ties.
Van Hollen spoke to reporters from El Salvador on Wednesday afternoon, when he vowed to continue pressing for access to Abrego Garcia.
He met with Vice President Félix Augusto Antonio Ulloa Garay because President Nayib Armando Bukele Ortez was out of the country, though Van Hollen said he was grateful to speak about the case of Abrego Garcia.
When Van Hollen asked if he could come back next week to see Abrego Garcia, Ulloa told him he could not promise that, either. Ulloa also told the U.S. senator that he could not even arrange for him, or Abrego Garcia’s family, to speak with the inmate over the phone.

Fixed the subject line:
Maryland man flies to El Salvador to visit deported migrant in prison, only to be denied
Do you really need to even ask that question? The taxpayers paid for it, of course.
“Van Hollen has never contacted nor offered personal sympathy to the Morins”
Which is absolutely dispicable BTW.
Because TDS “TRUMPS” empathy.
Van Hollen needs to do more.
How about joining the gang an getting some gang tattoos to solidify his commitment to the cause first.
Then he can get an inside view of the prison and visit his constituents, permanently!
It’s even worse than that. Fox uses the term “alleged” member of MS13. The immigration court found that there was sufficient evidence to verify that he was indeed a member of MS13. Here are the actual court documents. The findings on the next to last page make it clear.

After hearing so much about CECOT I did a little research and found a documentary...built in 7 months it has the capacity to hold 40k inmates with current population being over 14k.
Each cell holds around 30 and they’re only allowed out to exercise for 30 minutes a day.
The senior official interviewed stated that most inmates will spend the rest of their lives there.
As far as im concerned this Garcia animal is right where he needs to be.
Not a US citizen so get stuffed
There’s more than a fair chance his tatooing tells the whole story....most of these animals have their gang affiliation proudly displayed.
I notice nobody in the media seems too eager to do that research.
”Democrats support serial wife beater”.
Let’s hear THE VIEW and feminists and democratic women defend that headline.
ain’t your hood bruh, you wasted our money, you need to pay it back.
Now that the donation bucks are rolling into the beat up wife because democrats think they are supporting the criminal hubby, she wants El Salvador to keep him and his busy fists in prison.
And here is a totally goofy RAT wasting taxpayer dollars pestering officials in El Salvador, the country this MS-13 thug is still a citizen of, albeit a POS citizen.
Probably my and other Maryland taxpayers’ money!
Remember AOC at the fence, wretching and crying? And no kids were there on the other side. Same stunt. Van Hollen, you needed to have been put on a list for visiting and waited. Yea, that prison doesn’t give visits.
After this stunt many MD residents realize they can’t remain in a gang state. Everything will soon be rock bottom. Conversations at the country Club Bar last night was time to move.
He knew the trip would fail.
He will blame Trump.
Can Holland IS A LEFT WING CLOWN !!!
Indeed
I do remember that. What a waste of time and taxpayer-provided travel expenses.

I fully agree but then I’m not a democrat. The dems are using Garcia as a wedge to stop Trump and to stop his deportation plans. The intent of the dems’ is clear. They want to add almost impossible to meet requirement to deportation by granting each deportee his/her day in court.
Each deportee would get a court hearing, state provided lawyers and multiple opportunities to stall the process. Simply reflect on how long it takes to hold a trial, months if not years. Now multiply this by the number of potential deportees. The costs would be prohibitive.
