Yep…definitely a globalist and most likely part of the globohomo cabal leading the nations
What? That makes no sense.
You don’t believe we have moved our manufacturing to China and Mexico, and that the cars computer’s we realized how to streamline over time ultimately were shifted to such countries?
You don’t believe we have layers of regulations that have made manufacturing what we have left in the US, a lot more expensive?
Who do you work for, the Bushes?
Tariffs are a tool.
As such they are neither inherently good or bad.
What matters is the ability and intent of the people wielding the tool.
I trust Trump to use tariffs wisely.
Exactly.
Pick your metaphor, it’s all just an extension of the ‘true pandemic’...
...and rand paul - among many others - is infected.
Frankly, I don’t like that argument. But point taken.
I prefer to focus on the increased economic activity whenever taxes/fees/tariffs are reduced, meaning profits at home, higher international investment in the US and, consequently, higher revenues across the board due to an immensely stronger economy...
...all due to negotiation for good policies, rather than the bad ‘giveaway’ policies of the past, in part originating with Nixon himself.
We - nay, the correct word is “THEY” - gave away TRILLIONS in exchange for a few pennies in profit in comparison. The damage would take another 100 years to repair even IF the country was united. Thus, the stakes are quite high, hence my biting critique.
Patriots don’t take jobs away from Americans - earned greatly by the Greatest Generation’s blood, sweat & tears - to enrich other countries, some of which are our enemies.
The proper label for “they/them” - and their supporters, both of influence and idiotic consequence - is TRAITORS, and now “THEY” fleece the treasury pursuant to collapse (and are fighting back hard).
If THAT doesn’t convert a ‘free trader’...well, I better bite my lip.
Irony:

I don’t deny it; I just prefer to acknowledge all of the corollary benefits which are an order of magnitude more valuable than a mere tariff receipt and are, in fact, immeasurable.
There is something I don’t understand.
Half of Tesla’s production (just an example) is now in China, where the Communist regime isn’t just assembling cars—they’re stealing the technology, reverse-engineering it, and now producing more advanced, high-tech, and cheaper EVs. China’s BYD is on its way steamrolling Tesla, and yet, Elon still clings to his China dream… but for how much longer before reality smacks him awake?
Meanwhile, we allow TikTok —a Chinese data-harvesting machine— to operate freely in the U.S., while Facebook, X, and every other American platform are outright banned in China. The hypocrisy is staggering.
It’s time to stop playing tough against the weak and start standing up to real threats. Beating up on easy targets like Canada isn’t strength. True strength is confronting a rising China head-on. And yet, all we’ve done is slap on some laughably small tariffs while they laugh at us from Beijing.
America, stop hesitating. Be tough against the tough!
Fewer good will be coming in because THEY WILL BE MADE IN THE USA.
This is a conservative site. NOT a Libertarian site. It states that on the front page of FreeRepublic.
That “good analysis” assumes the country’s production of goods and services is a fixed quantity and that US production cannot or will not go up. You could as easily and perhaps more reasonably assume that the countries idebtedness would go down because more dollars are available to pay down debt public or private.
I think what we will quickly see is a number of countries starting with Canada accepting reciprical tariffs. 300% tariffs on milk, meat, cheese, and eggs are a lot to pay to support inefficient Canadian farmers. If Canadian auto workers need to feel a little pain in order for the rest of Canadian workers to butter their bread at a fair price and American auto workers can keep their jobs that sounds like a good deal for the largest number of citizens of both countries.
The author is a moron. Si many factors he’s ignoring.
Where was he in 2017 when Trump imposed tariffs?
Crickets.
“and our annual budget deficit is in the hole, and increasing.”
Have you informed Trump?
I don’t object to Schiff’s “Dooms Dater” philosophy so much as his gross over simplification and questionable assumptions. As someone else pointed out here this is a policy dispute that the ultimate result will resolve. I think in the end it will decrease tariffs and protectionism around the world and that would be good.
BTW because many countries, especially European ones have VAT taxes Americans effectively wind up paying foreign taxes on imports. That is one of the beauties of VAT taxes for countries that do a lot of exporting. Those countries could easily counter US tariffs by lower their VAT taxes which would be a boon for both their consumers and ours. Of course if the decided to remove them only on the exports in order to remain competitive in the US market that would be fine with me and I am sure Trump would agree.
Tariffs are going to make a huge dent in the deficit. But somehow libertarians ( hypocrites same same ) don’t like that.
Man, you are doubling down on gloBULList treason talk.
You are not making any sense.
You are a Free Traitor™ so common sense nationalist ecnomic policies don't make sense to your twisted perverted mind.
Half truths. TikTok is not being allowed to operate freely. It will be sold or eliminated from the USA very shortly.
Tesla is the car brand with the highest % made in the USA/Canada as documented below. Tesla has never shipped China-made models to the U.S. market, according to a company letter in July 2023 to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
Truth is important. IDK if you have bought the narrative or are spreading it. The truth is that Canada has been a poor partner for decades and US subsidizes it in a major way in defense & economically.
Instead of honorably working with President Trump to address the issues Canada resorts to highly inflammatory rhetoric that attempts to camouflage the true state of affairs from Canadians.
Canadians have been screwed by their liberal politicians. Their vaunted free healthcare is outrageously expensive and third rate. Their liberal policies have depressed the Canadian standard of living.

According to a recent NHTSA filing of which vehicles contain the most North American parts, Tesla’s vehicles are, unsurprisingly, the most North American made vehicles. This specifically includes parts produced and sourced from the US and Canada for 2025 models.
The vast majority of Tesla’s part content is produced within the US and Canada. Tesla holds a tie for first place with Honda. The Model 3 Long Range AWD and RWD are in first place alongside the Honda Ridgeline AWD TrailSport, with 75% of their parts being created in North American.
Tesla also ties for second place at 70% with the Model 3 Performance and Model Ys, alongside a good chunk of Honda’s other vehicles.
The Model S and Model X are closely following at 65% and 60% respectively. It is still more than many other auto manufacturers, some of whom are sporting 1% North American part rates.
What I said was in support of the tariffs.
Not sure where you're directing that statement. Don't be so sensitive to criticism about tariffs. They are a tool. The 'free traders' stripped us of that tool and squandered the productivity of multiple generations. Literally just gave it away.
Whatever it takes.
Indeed. Agreed 100%.
