It was always the first, and one of the silliest, Marxian fantasies that the illiterate, impoverished, immiserated industrial proletariat could even run a factory because Marx, who never worked in one, imagined it to be the case. That class was a mid-19th century evanescence and simply does not exist in the modern age. If it did, replacing a precision laser machinist with an illiterate Party member would be the route to social justice. In fact what you get is no production at all.

Marxists blur this awkward fact by replacing "industrial proletariat" with "working class", but they aren't the same thing at all. The working class, as Marx feared, has become bourgeoisie, and is despoiled under communism just as everyone else but Party members is. (In fact, through the auspices of stock owned and traded by pension funds, the working class is actually capitalist). What happens in practice is not the transfer of possession of the means of production, but its plunder. The Party does not consist of workers' committees, but bands of thieves.

What happened in Zimbabwe is a case in point. There possession of the farms was passed not to the workers - they became sharecroppers - but to the largely urban Party members who collected the rent and sold the machinery or allowed it to rot through lack of maintenance. Industrial farming devolved into hand-tool subsistence farming and the cities starved. (Party members are always the last to starve, but starve they did.)

"Land reform" is the pretty name given to this process. In Zimbabwe the workers became subsistence farmers, in the collective farms of Lenin's Soviet Union, slaves.

White South Africans need to take up Trump's offer and accept refugee status in the US ASAP. There is nothing left for them there, no hope - as it is now legal to seize their land and they are discriminated against in the job market. They are also being routinely murdered.

IIRC-—ZIMBABWE USED TO PRODUCE SO MUCH THAT THEY EXPORTED 95% OF THEIR PRODUCTION—EVERY DAY TO SURROUNDING COUNTRIES.

THEN CAME THE ATTACKS ON WHITE DUTCH (BOERS) FARMERS & SEIZURES OF LAND. BLACKS WERE GIVEN THE LAND.

PRODUCTION COLLAPSED.

NOW——ZIMBABWE IMPORTS 95% OF THEIR DAILY NEEDS.

SOUTH AFRICA SEEMS TO WANT A REPEAT.
