“Truman was smarter than Roosevelt too.”

There is little evidence to support your assertion. At Potsdam, Truman continued FDR’s approach to “Uncle Joe” Stalin, believing Stalin to be someone he could deal with in good faith. Never mind that Stalin already had our nuclear “secrets” due to the Communist spies in the Manhattan Project, as well as in the highest levels of government. Truman kept most of FDR’s Commie advisors into the post-war world.

Roosevelt was on his last legs, His commie advisers were conceding everything to Stalin. It was if we had Joe Biden and Jake Sullivan in charge.

THAT is so much closer to the truth than most people realize.

FDR was so arrogant as to think he had cards up his sleeve - when Stalin was getting reports on Manhattan Project in nearly real time.

I never believed either that FDR was anything but a hardcore progressive or that he was healthy & mentally fit in his 3rd term despite all the fawning writings of him. I maintain that view, buttressed by fairly recent revelations:

https://journals.lww.com/neurotodayonline/pages/articleviewer.aspx?year=2010&issue=02040&article=00013&type=Fulltext

Yes, he led the nation in war with some good decisions, but I credit the army of advisors, generals, admirals and industrialists - to state nothing of the ironic role of the fledgling DS in framing the public narrative to support the war effort - more than FDR himself.

It was the right time for such a war and our enemies were proven to have horribly miscalculated.

How ironic (pathetic is a better word) that we have let ourselves become so vulnerable to our enemies today due to decades of progressive influence on the basis of such fawning.

I got news for ya.....Russia is winning. They’ve been winning for some time. I’m surprised the Ukes have held out this long. You do realize it can’t continue right? Ukraine is out of young men now.

Read Roosevelt and Stalin: Portrait of a Partnership (2015) by Susan Butler. FDR almost fellated "Uncle Joe" Stalin to get him to join what became the UN and so establish a one-world government. To do so, FDR even distanced himself from Churchill who was properly hostile to Stalin.

Every border that has existed in circa 1600 AD was established and enforced through the barrel of a gun.

And the biggest guns have drawn them.

Don’t forget about 1066 - England has stood for a thousand years but cannot withstand the tide of immigration changing communities or what’s left of them.

In the General/Chat forum, on a thread titled Ch4 on Ukraine: 'Some may recall a meeting exactly 80 years ago when Stalin, Roosevelt and Churchill carved up the world after WW2', piasa wrote:

Naziism is thriving in Russia.
That is why the Russians get along so fabulously with Palestinians whose favorite reads are the Turner Diaries and Mein Kampf.
That is why the Russians embraced the Baath Parties of both Iraq and Syria.
Russian national socialism is why so many Jews keep leaving.
When communist leaders realize communism isnt working, they don’t become capitalists, they become Nazis by another name.

You're fine with Naziism, when it's Ukrainian. The Ukraine's AZOV Nazis were getting unwonted attention by Americans who objected to funding them, so Zelensky incorporated them into the Ukraine's National Guard. Don't you think they read Mein Kampf, too? You make no objection to the near worship of Nazi collaborator Bandera in Ukraine's public celebrations- they are proud of him.

Today the Ukraine holds public celebrations of Bandera.

From wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stepan_Bandera

On 22 June 1941, the same day as Operation Barbarossa, the German invasion of the Soviet Union, he (Stepan Bandera) formed the Ukrainian National Committee. The head of the Committee, Yaroslav Stetsko, announced the creation of a Ukrainian state on 30 June 1941, in German-captured Lviv. The proclamation pledged to work with Nazi Germany.[5] The Germans disapproved of the proclamation, and for his refusal to rescind the decree, Bandera was arrested by the Gestapo. He was released in September 1944 by the Germans in hope that he could fight the Soviet advance. Bandera negotiated with the Nazis to create the Ukrainian National Army and the Ukrainian National Committee in March 1945.[6] After the war, Bandera settled with his family in West Germany.

You act like you don't know Russia's history. WHen Russia was still part of the Soviet Union, the USSR lost 27 million men fighting Hitler's Germany in WWII.Yes there are Nazi's around the world - it's Ukraine that makes them their National Guard and honors their hero in public ceremonies.

The enormous scale of this particularly ferocious war is hard to comprehend. It started with Russia totally disadvantaged, but the turn-around was awesome, as Stalin's war machine revved into action.

The million $$ question, particularly given the hypocrisy of zeeper trolls here at FR now shifting their postings to military action being undertaken by our country against mehico in a pathetic attempt to deflect from their prior offenses.

Yup!

Its like they think we are stupid or don't have a memory.

Churchhill is the only hero on this list, however flawed the great leader may have been; Britian can now mourn not accepting the War Leader’s wisdom. Britian today follows phony ideas today as presented as truth, while truth itself is censored if not dispised, and even their clergy is educated instead of consecrated.

You mean like the policy Obama and Clinton had that let Russia take the Crimea and other lands?

If they haven’t already done it the left will compare Trump to Neville Chamberlain, Putin to Hitler and Ukraine to Czechoslovakia at the 1938 Munich conference.
It’s garbage of course.

47 and Putin will carve up Europe with Russia overseeing the EU, while 47 goes after China to get them off Putin’s back.

It was Alger Hiss who organized this meeting IIRC. He later would be convicted of perjury and revealed as a communist spy.

“Russians remember another meeting in 1918, at Brest-Litovsk.”

That’s the first time the line Zelensky is talking about (Ukraine, Belarus, the Baltic States, Finland) was drawn. Maybe he was trying to provoke. These nationalists in their petty squabbles have long memories.

I like how she is shocked that Trump changed America’s foreign policy, as though that were some sacrosanct entity that exists independent of the president.

Yep, shocking that after campaigning against Biden's foreign policy, Trump had the nerve to actually change it.

Roosevelt gave Stalin half of Europe. Trump's smarter than Roosevelt. Much smarter.

No big fan of Roosevelt or Truman here, but in fact Stalin got control where the Red Army already had total control. The only way to get him out would be to go to war with him, and another war was the last thing Americans wanted in 1945.

Soviet Propaganda constantly told the Soviet people that during the war, Britain and the US were constantly trying to negotiate a separate peace with the Nazis.

It was featured prominently in the Soviet “Liberation” series of movies.

Yalta, where the western allies formaly gave Russia the very chunk of Poland and that the Russians stole in 1939 when the Russians were allied with Hitler and the Nazis in making war on and invading Poland.
