I was stopped for a traffic violation in that same town (JAX). Told copper, a guy, had firearm. He asked where. Told him and he said find just stay away from it.
Some coppers just seem to have to go to extremes like in the cited one.
Good retort.
I carried a revolver for most of my police career. A cocked and locked 1911 was not an option. No safety on a revolver, you just need to keep your finger out of the trigger guard until you’re on target. During the latter years of my career there were two officers in my state that shot them selves with 1911 platform pistols. Training, training , training!
Yeah, There's a big problem finding younger folks to become policemen. Few can pass the drug test..
Who wants to work for woke bosses?
Especially people named Mindy.
Female Officer...
That's misleading because most of those sales are to law enforcement and private security for both their on and off duty handguns.
...to REALLY screw things up, you need a woman
Watched that scene on YouTube a few weeks ago. How prescient, or maybe this crap's been going on longer than I thought.
There is a small township near me. It’s a poor area, and smack in the middle of it is a large Section-8 apartment complex. There’s always trouble there.
It actually amazes me that any police officer would agree to work in this township. Low pay, and constant crime due to the folks at the apartments.
I dunno. Maybe for a young officer, the constant calls make for an interesting day. But at some point it has to get old, and not worth the money.
Definitely started in the late 60s/early 60s. And now those people are running the departments.
That may not be practical or legal in some states. I know CA it is illegal even with a CCW.
This is exactly why I am dreading the next time a thug sheriff deputy wants to pull me over because I drive an old truck in a “rich” neighborhood.
Hopefully they’ll let me either pull the damn thing out and unload it(unlikely) or they’ll let me remove my OWB pouch and hand the whole thing over.
Retired LEO here who carried a Glock 17 as a duty weapon. They require 14 pounds of pressure on the trigger to fire the chambered round. She very likely put her finger inside the trigger guard (muscle memory?) when she grabbed the sidearm and yanked on it to unholster it. Gobsmackingly stupid of her.
2 trains of thought here, not getting into it except as follows:
When my Glock is in condition 0, I’d certainly advise an officer keen to remove it from the holster inside my waistband.
In this case he did NOT (body cam) and the officer clearly had her finger hooked on the trigger.
He played a role in his injury IMHO. Additionally, she may have demonstrated firearm incompetence, but I question the level of training she received. It should also be part of the larger investigation.
Glock Leg..kinda sad, in a way, that there’s a name for it.
You don't want to do an image search online with the content filter off. Point-blank shots down into a human leg can leave horrific wounds.
About 5.5 lbs., though it could be less if the owner changed the connector.
That's the law enforcement version. A civilian Glock is less than half of that.
