When I lived in Vegas in the early aughts I used to go to this Indian buffet on Sahara. The meat dishes were just not good. But the vegetarian dishes were AWESOME. Then one day it hit me. The kitchen staff is probably all vegetarians and as such they don’t EAT the meat dishes to know that they’re bad.

“The unsalted version had no added sugar either, so I got those instead.”

Peas, even without added sugar, are 15% carbohydrates which are converted to glucose (sugar !) in less than 5 minutes in your mouth and stomach, so you are out of luck if you wanted to avoid sugar. Carbohydrates, whether in peas, whole bread, whole fruit or other “whole, organic, hand raised, local” nonsense will always wreck your metabolism and worsen your bad health.

Fire your doctor if he didn’t dissuade you from eating any of the things above because he doesn’t want to heal you but to sell you pills and consultations.
All you need to do is to avoid ALL carbohydrates and eat meat and animal fats. Your pre-diabete conditions (and your need for pills) will disappear in weeks. Just look up the carnivore doctors on social media and the thousands of testimonies of diabetics and pre-diabetics who have been cured by the carnivore diet.

More evidence that the green/vegan movements are ending.

Piss off the carnivores and we will not come back to a “vegan” nuthouse.

I read a couple comments and quit.....like I said, they need to get a life.

Of course liberals are basically unhappy people that are only happy if they have something to bitch about.

“”I’ve heard that the gluten-free thing is legit. But everyone who I know who goes that way is MUCH more vocal and sanctimonious than any vegan / vegetarian I’ve ever met. “Look at MEEEE.” It’s all about the attention. Annoying.””

When I reached about 45 years of age, I developed celiac. Before that, I could eat any grain. Sooooo many restaurants now have gluten-free choices. I still make a point of telling the waiter/waitress that it is not just a choice/preference. I get really sick.

That said, there was a younger entrepreneur who opened up a small, gluten-free store just two blocks from our home. When I first shopped there, the young skull full of mush entrepreneur stated something I will never forget. She called the trend for more “awareness” and availability of gluten-free products.....a.......”movement.”

I can just see her down at the State Capitol, chanting:

Hey Hey, Ho Ho
Gluten Products Have To Go

I also remember that great comedy skit (SNL?) with William Shatner at a Star Trek convention. He states to the gathered room “Get A Life!!”

“Vegan activists” also known as liberal bullies...

Happy to hear vegan/progressive bullies will have one LESS place to eat - sorry for the restaurant owners Maybe they can open a new restaurant chain in Florida - we’re more tolerant of decent people.

They should use olive oil or avocado oil which would be good for them and they probably do. My point was that some vegans think they are so healthy, but consume seed oils which are inflammatory.

What do restaurants use? I don’t think most use olive or avocado oil. Just a guess.

They changed the menu after they had to sell their house to keep things afloat.

Ahh. That's an entirely different story. The vegen market was not sustainable. I've been to a few chain restaurants lately where vegen options are highlighted on the menu or where staff are trained to make vegen adjustments.

I know that diet works great for some people, but I’m a runner, and so I eat some carbs, or else that WILL suffer. Prior to my bloodwork on 12/19, my a1c in previous bloodwork and my fasting sugar were fine. My fasting sugar in this bloodwork was fine (87), but my a1c is 0.1 percent above normal, indicating possible high sugar episodes in the recent past.

Believe me, given my family history of diabetes on my mother’s side, I am taking it seriously, even though it is only 0.1 percent above normal a1c. I’m foregoing desserts, most wheat products and most caloric drinks, and I’m minding the added sugar in various things, which I believe is one of the true culprits. But I do need carbs for my sport. YMMV.

The vegans can go to a grocery store and buy some vegetables or grow their own. Buying hamburger and steak and chicken etc is a better choice.

You do not need carbs for running, even at high level sport. That “need carbs” nonsense has to stop. There are essential amino acids (proteins) and essential lipids, but ZERO essential carb. Carb is precisely the only group of macro nutrient we do NOT need to eat, our bodies make it (glycogen) in the right quantity when needed. Carb is just a backup and dirty nutrient that we can tolerate but it ends up biting us in the arse (insuline spikes, the Randle cycle, liver problems caused by fructose, etc). That’s basic physiology that applies to everybody, not just to “some people”.
Don’t take my words for granted, just look at what sport medecine doctors like Dr Paul Mason or Prof Tim Noakes say about the subject.

Prof Tim Noakes was a marathon runner and a creator of energy packs based on... carbs, until his health becomes crap. Then he did his own research and learned that all he was taught about nutrition is rubbish. Then he stopped all carbs, and cured his pre-diabete.
BTW, his father died of diabete, killed by the “cure” prescribed by experts. Prof Noakes said that if he had known about the carnivore diet at the time, in the 80s, his father would still be alive now. If you can’t relate to his case, there is probably not much that can help your health.

Tensions came to ahead last June when activists stormed the restaurant and even threw fake blood down as a protest.

‘These people came inside of my restaurant, harassed my customers, my employees, vandalized my restaurant and openly said they’d like to put me out of business,’ Engelhart told Fox Digital at the time.

She also cited soaring crime in her local neighborhood of Echo Park as one of the greatest challenges facing her business.

The protesters put her out of business.

If there were enough vegans in the market they wouldn’t have that problem. Catering to a tiny minority is not always profitable.

I remember a vegetarian place in Southern California that also had a marvelous steak on the menu for people who insisted on it. Very successful, always busy, but that was decades ago. The movement has gotten much more strident lately.
