I remember that very well. I was in the hospital where my why was getting an x-ray taken with a big xray matching over her, when the quake hit and everything started shaking. We were rushed out of the hospital with her in the gurney and spent most of the night there in the parking lot with dozens of other patients. I’ll never forget that day.

I was watching the game on T.V., 26 Miles away and the quake jolted me out of my seat!

Jolted me out of mine too. I had retired from the Air Force, at Travis AFB, in 88, and was working in San Rafael, but living in Fairfield. I don’t ever want to feel that again.

Dove under my desk and said calmly to myself “I wonder if I’m going to die today?”
I saw the shock waves in the concrete floor.

It was loud. It roared.
