Three of Tiant’s most similar pitchers are in the Hall of Fame.

Another is a guy with a Hall of Fame name, Hooks Dauss. Born in 1889, he apparently hasn’t died, 135 years later Hope he’s still spinning the curveball somewhere.

I had a warm wave of nostalgia wash over me, almost to the point I could remember, to the point of actually feeling what it felt like at that time. As if I could taste it.

That is a wonderful thing, that “golden” nostalgia. I thank God for the gift of memory, and that I have been given good things to remember. It nearly makes getting older worthwhile...:)

Of course, it might well have been gray and gritty in the Seventies with the bad clothes, the rusting cars, and the shortages of gasoline, but...I don’t think I will ever get myself to remember that!

First off...thank you for your service.

Can't say I remember much of the 70's, those were my school years.

Interesting/transitioning times though...coming off the riots here in '67.

I moved from MI to SoCal in the early 80's, probably the tail end of California Dreaming, I had a blast.

...then Clinton got in.

Kent Tekulve...yeah, I remember him!

Those stupid hats, but hey...they won the world series in '79...can't argue with success.

LOL, thanks for the MLB history lesson.

El Tiante: If I call correctly, during the politically incorrect days of SNL, Garrett Morris had a skit where he played LT during an interview. LT answered every convoluted, in comprehensible question with the same answer: “Baseball has been very, very good to me.

Watching the clip of the 1968 All Star game was pretty cool. Both Willie Mays and Hank Aaron are seen playing.
