Scripture is the single most documented and supported work of antiquity. More fragments, more manuscripts, more historical mentions of identical recordings.
Nor religious belief necessary.
I do hope you resolve your issue.
You think the description of the death of the most important man in history is fake history?
Of course I’ve heard that before as well.
Yes. The Bible has historical facts in it. There’s no question about that.
It’s the way they are presented that’s not a historical fact. Like god punished so and so because he disapproved of them for doing such and such. Still see this today. Hurricane hits Florida and people say god did it because disney world had gay day or something.
When the space shuttle blew up in 86 it reminded me of the Tower of Babel story.
Man tried to reach the heavens and god said no.
Um….. the description? Yeah. Kind of I guess.
I’m less certain the biblical description of the event than I am of the event itself though.
It probably happened, but the narrative around it was most likely embellished and any miraculous events, no.
And your last sentence about my issues is unnecessary don’t you think?
Kind of haughty and insulting.
Agree.
And that is why facts matter more than feelings or opinions.
Did you want to explain what you meant in post 214?
Yes, anti-Semitism exists and it's not exclusively a Christian fault - in fact there are Jews who are anti-Semitic. The other side of the coin is that there are many in this world who are anti-Christian and that includes many Jewish people.
History shows that 1st century Jewish leaders (Sanhedrin) condemned Jesus to death. If possible, they would have but could not execute Him because they had no authority under Roman rule to do so. Pilate wanted to release Jesus. Jewish leaders (Sanhedrin) convinced Pilate to crucify Jesus.
Yes, Christ's crucifixion was fulfillment of God's plan. The fact remain, the Jews and Romans were the instruments that God used to crucify Jesus. Jew and Gentile were responsible for nailing Christ to the cross.
There may be some who want to rewrite history. This is a foolish endeavor.
"Jesus answered (to Pilate), “You could have no power at all against Me unless it had been given you from above. Therefore the one who delivered Me to you has the greater sin.” - John 19:11
"“And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn." - Zechariah 12:10
My admonition to every Jew: Receive Yeshua as Messiah and Savior - the One who was sacrificed (paid) for your sins.
My admonition to every Gentile: Receive Yeshua (Jesus) as Messiah and Savior (the One who was sacrificed (paid) for your sins.
No. I don't know your issue, but it seems your posts are driven by a kind of bitterness or hatred or something.
The single best blessing I can wish you is resolution. And I do.
Yay! Agreement, in a way.
I can go with that. It’s a start anyway. 😁
The relevant part that you aren’t certain of is whether the Jews gave him up for the execution or that it was just normal Roman law and procedure that called for the appropriate sentence of death for a crime he was convicted of.
Entertaining watching them turn themselves into gibbering pretzels explaining their "beliefs".
If I were agreeing with you with the same tone, you’d probably not describe it as being bitter or hateful as I’ve expressed neither.
I’ve heard all the arguments, I’ve read the entire Bible a couple times been there, done that. I’ve come to the conclusion that it makes no sense.
Again, if your argument is based on an interpretation of a religious text about supernatural forces and their will, then your not making an argument, you’re preaching.
And yet that is simply my impression from reading your posts on this thread alone.
And as a result I wish you success at resolving it.
So here we are.
:-)
You’re quoting the Bible to an atheist, as if it should matter to me.
That makes no sense, seriously.
I’ve read it.
Why is that concept so hard for people to understand?
You are correct, that once your remove God, you are left with little in the way of universal morality, rights, and little of scientific inquiry that doesn’t make huge unspoken assumptions.
And so it goes.
Exactly. Your impression based on your obvious belief system / religion and my rejection of it.
It’s not because I’ve said anything hateful.
Entertaining watching them turn themselves into gibbering pretzels explaining their "beliefs".
Prefer God
Love truth
Be kind

by the gate,
satisfying the thirst of David,
