As someone who has done bench rest shooting, it makes sense that the first shot would be the one that hit Trump in the ear. Barrel heat and fouling change the point of impact in “most rifles.” Especially, when shots are fired in rapid succession.

While the ballistics of the bullet that hit Trump in the ear will never be known, hopefully, the volunteer fire fighter killed and the two others who were injured will have all those bullets examined for caliber, weight, and any rifling grooves. I would further hope that those bullets will be compared to what was found on the roof top where Crooks died. Especially important in any FBI report will be showing the rifling marks of a post assassination attempt, bullet fired from Crooks AR style rifle.

From what I have read on Free Republic, in addition to a Secret Service counter sniper firing his rifle once, a local law enforcement agent also fired at least one shot. It would be good for the FBI report to find those rifles and perform and examination of the caliber, bullet weight, and rifling marks of all known weapons that were fired that day.

Do I believe that the FBI, Secret Service, or Homeland Security will voluntarily conduct a fair and open investigation? Not at all. They will need to be pushed kicking and screaming into such an admission of massive government failure or conspiracy.

Because Trump is supported broadly by law enforcement, it is my hope that information will be leaked and that Congressional inquiries will demand answers to focused questions that will force the FBI, Secret Service and Homeland Security to truthfully explain what happened that day with detailed backup information for all to examine.

I also want to see the NSA asked to provide for ALL electronic communications that day and the two weeks prior from AND to the Secret Service, the FBI, Homeland Security, the local police, the DNC and the White House.

Since protecting “Democracy” is a theme of this election, the various government agencies need to demonstrate beyond a shadow of doubt what they did wrong, what they did right, and what they don't want to confess to.

What I have read is that he had his vehicle in the vicinity, with explosives inside. He also had a bicycle stashed nearby. A transponder was found by the body.

So: He plans to do the shooting, blow up the car, and in the confusion get on his bike and ride away. Who would suspect some pimply kid on a bicycle?
