Because it IS great!
"John Big Booty, you are the weakest individual I've ever known."
"Where are we going?" "Planet 10!"
"When are we going?" "Real soon!"
I loved that movie because it was so outside the box different and quirky and imaginative. Plus Peter Weller and Perfect Tommy were easy on the eyes. :)
I enjoyed hearing her as a guest on the Johnny Carson Show.
Thank you, AppyPuppy! I totally forgot about that! Saw it when it was new. Great episode!
Yes, he is despicable. Some say he was the one who pushed Dana Plato over the edge.
The first time I saw him was early in the morning when I was getting ready to head to my USAF Reserve weekend duty. My wife had been watching him. I had been suffering from a severe depression episode while going to college. The evening before I had finally started feeling a little bit of an appetite coming back. Something about him just relaxed me during a really bad time in my life. As the day went on my appetite became ravenous and I quickly drove to Carl’s Jr. I realized then that the antidepressant was kicking in. I always remember what a glorious day that was for me and always associated that with him. May he rest in peace and may God give comfort to his loved ones like he did for me.
“Good riddance”
So freaking go!
another health nut that doesn’t live very long.
Has anyone else ever noticed that all these health nuts never live any longer than anyone else?
“I saw a video of Howard Stern on his radio show where he had Simmons on as a guest, Stern was a complete jerk to him, and you could tell Simmons feelings were hurt and he walked out of the interview. The guy was a gentle soul. R.I.P.”
Look what Howard did to Dana Plato. What a piece of sheet. He is not a real Jew. Howard is evil as hell!
If I remember correctly, Richard Simmons grew up being overweight and sickly. He got into physical fitness to improve his health. He eventually developed a lot of very successful programs that he developed into a worldwide business.
He also was a semi-regular in the late 70’s or early 80’s, on “General Hospital”! He was on there at around the “Luke and Laura” era. He aparently played himself, doing a fitness class in a disco club frequented by some of the younger characters.
Joanie Greggains was my favorite “fitness guru”. Her shows were a hoot. Richard Simmons always creeped me out a bit.
he definitely was NOT my style at all BUT with that said, he for sure knew how to create anabolic energy.
i just watched a couple of appearances of his and the crowds genuinely loved him.
at the end of the day, he was probably a very private person who didn’t want to live in the shadow of his fame.
He was a pop-culture symbol.
There are studies: https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lanhiv/article/PIIS2352-3018(23)00028-0/fulltext
It is hard to follow but my takeaway from the study was for someone aged 40 at diagnosis, life expectancy was reduced a few years (4-5 years). I suspect if diagnosed at a younger age, the decline would be greater. I have read that the bias corrected decline caused by smoking is 4.3 years and suspect zero for the impact of climate change. They never want to make harmful effects of actions understandable.
He had dementia.
That’s a great story. Thanks for sharing!
Shannon Doherty also died last night 9 yrs battling cancer she suffered so much very sad
